i think my car is stuck on retarded.

my car is soo stupid.... no matter how i drive my gas mileage is so sparatic!
like the other day i got 13mpg, this tank im at about 19mpg and still have 1/8 of a tank to go. its crazy. my car has always been like that. when i first got it, i got 280mpt. now im getting anywhere from 170-220 mpt. its soo weird. ive used injector cleaner, changed fuel filter, changed spark plugs. yet still shitty mileage sometimes. i use only shell and chevron regular 87 octane, since thats what its tuned for, i get slightly better gas milegae with 89 or 91 octane. but not enough to compensate for the extra $0.20 per gallon.

any ideas?

try keeping receipts of how many gallons it takes you to reach 1,000 miles. That will give you a more precise miles/gallon rating on your car.

You sound like me though buddy.

I used to fill up at 275 miles, now, 225-250. Not driving any different, and have cleaned the intake & fuel system regularly.

Best of luck. Glad I could help lol

Could be a number of things. Catalytic converters, a bad sensor, bad air filter, crappy fuel injector(s).

Keep in mind that even weather can affect how she runs.

well im about to get mil eliminators and an off road x pipe so i wont have to worry about that. my air filter might be a tad bit dirty. i just realized when i got my cai in, i didnt spray the filter with oil, its a K&N type filter. hmmm i guess i know what im doing tommorow night.
i have stock injectors they have 90k miles on them. maybe they need a replacement or a good cleaning instead of just gas additives.

Sounds like you're headed in the right direction anyway, 232. Hopefully you'll get it back to normal.

My friend could have had any car he wanted for under $30,000 and he decided to get a Honda Si because he wanted great gas mileage and some performance. Well he got all pissed when he found out my mustang GT gets better mpg than his car does, I get around 20mpg in town and over 30mpg on the interstate
