It's based off the body mass index, the third link in my first post explains that there are exceptions to the rules. I will admit, those exceptions may skew the results of the amount of 'overweight' and 'obese' people, but the ratio of athletes to citizens means it can't be skewed by a big margin.

wow i cant belive i actually read that shit. ok heres my 3.4cents america is the most obese country in the world yes we know this. now heres the question why? well lets see on labor day they said on the news that americans on avarage work the second most hours in a year right behind china. this makes it seem that due to the fact that theres so many of us that work so many hours that we have neglected our health out of exhaustion from work. who wants to work 50-90 hours a week just to go home and excersize? now why are we working so many hours? my guess would be because of the constant rise of the cost of living and lower pay forcing us to work more to make more to afford a decent way of life. fast food restaurants do not help this problem by offerering low cost quick dinners on the run but can you blame them for the problem? no they dont force you to eat there. so who is to blame if anyone? me personally i would say if our government spent half the money on solving their own countries problems instead of every other nations problems there would be alot less problems. the horribly failing healthcare system also direct relation to the government is also a major issue if we could afford healthcare maybe we could get help in staying healthy.

You can't really argue that America is not overweight. It's a proven fact, but as far as work ethic, I'm not sure that I would say we're lazy. I agree 100% with everything dburklen said, but on top of that, look at kids these days too. A lot for the future of this countries weight issues can be solved by proper parenting. I see kids...12...13...14 years old that weigh more than me. Which isn't saying much, cause I'm pretty thin, but walking around the mall or wherever, you see a kid bitching and complaining about SOMETHING, and the only thing the parents do is shove a sno cone or a cheeseburger in their mouth. A lot of people are failing as parents these days. The quickest way to shut their kids up, is to naturally give them an ice cream sandwich or something and throw them in front of the TV. So as this kid begins to grow up, what do they do? They eat what they want, and lay around, because that's how they were brought up. I am in great shape, and I contribute a lot of it to my childhood. When I was young, I was allowed like, an hour of TV a day. The rest of the day I wasn't at school, I was out climbing trees, running through the woods lookin for weird creatures, riding 4-wheelers, and playing a lot of sports. Of course growing up I also didn't have the luxury of internet shopping and XBOX live, that kids have these days. Jesus this was a lot longer than I was expecting....my apologies
