My computer has been acting real slow lately. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to speed things up a bit.

I'm trying to disable the 100 programs that start runing durring start up.

Anyone got some tips?

it could dust in your computer . dust creates heat . heat creates lag . if it is you shoul ddust it . its like 5-10bucks a bottle at staples or so . just open up your case and take it outside and dust away . or if its programs you should delete some of the files your not using

You probably have spyware www.ad-aware.com download the free personal use program then scan i bet u will find lots. also scan for viruses. if you have any norton product ditch it.

+1^^ also do a cleanup and defrag run a virus scan run a spyware scan i could go on and on but yea start there

google ATF Cleaner it will clean your hard drive for you in seconds.

If it's running Windows back up all your data (porn) to an external hard drive. Format the hard disk in your computer and reinstall Windows. You'll be good for another 6 months or 60,000 porn sites.

96GT:

I'm going to assume you are running Windows XP. If so, start with this. Click Start, select 'Run'.

Type in msconfig in the dialog box that appears. Hit enter.

This opens the System Configuration Utility.

Go to the Startup tab.

From here, you can untick items you do not wish to start up with Windows.

Note: DO NOT UNTICK SOMETHING UNLESS YOU'RE SURE!!! lol

*giggles* n00b...

1) right-click on my computer, and click properties, or whatever's at the bottom of the list.

a window will open revealling ur problem...

2) after u do that, go here

3) the window u opened a sec ago should tell u what processor u have, and download the Ubuntu Desktop Edition that is designed for your processor
