This is what happens when a $15 part breaks...


A valve broke which set off a chain reaction. I found pieces of the valve seat in the intake. The engine turns over fine now that the valve isn't wedged between the intake runner and the piston.

Its a stainless Chevy valve. They are $15 everywhere.

If that is what you think you better never buy a set of aftermarket heads. The majority use a Chevy style valve....

It was a 2.10 intake valve. Number 4 piston is junk and so is the cylinder. The block is now junk because it is already .060 over and I don't want to push it any more regardless of what the sonic testing showed. Time for a Dart block. The other 3 pistons on that side are salvageable and I'm reasonbly sure the other 4 pistons on the other side are salvageable too. I'll know more when I get the other head off. The crank and rods seem to be good too. The head is repairable. We might put this engine back together in a different block and put it in my buddies car. I think I'm going to build something crazy for next year.
