silver head

Ive been looking for tires the last couple days because Ive been feeling a thump in one of them. The tread is gone anyway so I researched and found some Hankooks for a great price that fit what I need. I'll have them installed in a few days. (BTW- I shopped everywhere and yet again, the FORD dealer had the best price and warranty hands down. But thats another topic for another time)

Anyway, I didnt really look close at my tires until this morning. I went out to my garage and noticed my back passenger was way low. So I took my hand and ran it around the tire where I couldnt see. To my surprise there was like 10 tiny nails sticking out of the tire. I couldnt see them but boy did I feel it. They were sharp!

So I take off the tire to put my good buddy "donut" on to to assist me until I get the new ones on. As Im looking at the bad tire, I realize its not nails I felt. It was metal in the tire coming through! Like the bands were coming out! They were coming out from a spot on the tire that was rubbed flat. About a 4 inch section.

This happend because of a time I locked my brakes up (yes, I realize my tread was already too low). I was mad because I remember driving at 60 mph in a 55 and a Buick Century pulling out of the grocery store in front of me. I had to brake hard for the old man or I would have smacked him.

Something occured to me. The driver of the other car caused me to have to replace my tires. Unfortunately, theres no way to make him pay for it. Not that I really would have anyway knowing how bad the tread wear was. But it makes me think of the wear and damage we make to our cars due to other drivers stupidity. How many things break or get worn that dont show simptoms until months later? How many things do we have to replace before their time because of stresses we put on our cars due to other careless drivers?

Just a little mad man thinking.......

I just bought new tires yesterday, BF Goodrich Traction T/A 225/55/r16 they were a good price and are a performance tire and they ride very smoothly and quiet.

Haven't had to buy tires in a while. The last set I bought were Nitto Terra Grapplers for my Expedition. I love em.

mine are costing me $390 for everything. Also, Im going to have the pads done all the way around because they got a deal on that right now, $129 and they'll resurface the rotors.

The dealership used to be such a scam ripoff. Not only are their prices better, but they are cool as hell. They answered alot of questions out of me (Jug can testify, I ask alot of stupid shit).

They're trying to be more competitive because they have high priced mechanics sitting around. They'd rather have them doing something on the clock I bet. IDK, butu I am happy to have Ford work on my car rather than some angry teenager at Brake Monkey er something.
