Usually when someone says lightly modified, they mean things like CAI's, tuners, exhaust, pullies, etc.

Heavily modified would be cams, forced induction, etc.

Define drag racer. There are many different classes.

I don't think they throw around the term 'modified' like we do. Modified is a general term that most street level car owners use.

6 Second cars are Pro Stockers.

what about a 400hp n/a 2.3?

since there's no boost, its only mildly modded?

There is no exact definition to the term, MSO. It's a relative term that you use, with common sense applied. If you're N/A, but have turned your 4 cyl car in to a 400 hp ride from a 100 hp slowkart, then you could say that your car is seriously modified.

But I dunno. I don't get caught up in the terminologies. If someone asks me how modified my car is, I don't search for the proper term, I just tell them what's done to it.

Umm a 6 second 1/4mile car isn't modified it's custom from the ground up with a fiberglass shell that looks like it's street counterpart.

Lightly Modified = wheels, catback, pullies, RAI/CAI, Tune and some body upgrades, lowering springs...
Mildly Modified = Brake upgrades, TB's and new intake manifolds, Gears, Axles, Diffs, struts/shocks, Tune, Headers, mid pipes, control arms, difficult or expensive body mods...
Heavily Modified = Built engine, Ported heads, cams, trans upgrades, Tubular k-member, N2O, Chassis bracing, Forced induction, coilovers...
Extremely Modified = Gutted interior, Light weight seats and such, Cage, A/C removal, Racing brakes, Light weight wheels and race tires, Plexan windows, gutted doors, and any of the above engine/chassis mods...

Heavily modded, IMO means things like;

I had to take the suspension apart and get a 4 wheel alignment... or... I had to take the engine apart to install my cams/pistons/rods/etc. Things that require extra work or a company/dealer doing work to get the car back to (stock alignment persay) settings.

Lightly modded is bolt ons like intake, header(s), exhaust, pullies, intake manifolds, etc. Things the average tuner/modifyer can do himself without outside help.

Come on use your head on this one. If you got mods out the ass of course its heavily modded, but if you got some weld in Flowmasters and a home made CAI it light.
