Color Matching By Mail

I was just wondering if anyones' ever known of some kind of company or place that can take pieces of your car and match a paint color and then apply it to supplied parts. I know I can get the color matched by computer at Sherwin Williams or something but I didnt know if anyone would actually take parts by mail, do 'em up and send 'em back.

ford dealer can tell you the paint code by your VIN number.

you should be able to stop by any powder coater and they will have something pretty damn close. at my job i deal with 4 differant powder coaters and all of them carry at least 100 differant colors. they usually will have an entire wall of paint chips. the blue on my mustang is pretty unique and i found a shade of blue that you could tell was a little differant if you held it right up to the door but as far as having motor parts painted that color you can look at it all day and not know a differance. and powder coaters are usually pretty cheap. they will charge you a "lot" charge to do work so do all you want on one trip dont just do one peice a week or something.

I have a body shop in mind but I just wondered if there was some kind of service offered by mail..that wouldnt be a bad buisness venture. And my paint doesnt match the factory code. I have some other minor work to be done on the rest of the car so I guess Ill just bite the bullet and have the shop take care of everything at once. Thanks
