how does one melt plastic? (take off tabs from cd case)

i'm trying to modify this cd case and take off the 4 tabs that hold in the cd booklet cuz my booklet is too big to fit in the case

i was trying to hold a flame up to it but i cant control it enough to just get the tab and it turns black if i hold it too long

should i keep trying with lighter or is there some other way?

yeah i didn't actually read his problem till now (yeah i kinda jumped to a panda flamethrower conclusion), but honestly you can break them with your hand.. if now.. scissors?

if you cant do it with your hands, just use a flat head screwdriver and pry them off.
