This thread is serious.

Today, it rained in San Diego. That's rare.

So i was driving, with traction control off, out of my school parking lot. I waited at the light to turn left, and when it turned from red->green, i let off the clutch and pushed the gas. As i turned, i pushed down on the accelerator hard. On a normal day, i would have burnt a little rubber and sped up the hill out of the turn. Not today. I felt the feeling that i have felt oh so many times, the back end of my car loosing grip on the road. Normally, i welcome this feeling. Not today. My car fish tailed and before i had time to do anything at all, i was turned around 180 degrees, half on the curb divider in the middle of the street, half facing the opposite way i had come. I was in the turn lane on the other side of the street. My car had shut off because in the panic i had let off the clutch. In shock, i quickly pushed in the clutch and turned on my car. I drove a few blocks to a housing complex and checked out everything on my car. No scratches. Nothing dented. Driving i felt no front end or alignment damage.

The street i was on is one of the busiest streets that i know of. Strangely, today was a minimum day.. meaning i got out at about 11 o clock. Normally there would be traffic on the street when i get out a normal time. Not today. I thank God that there was no one in that turn lane. I thank God no one was following closely behind me. The only people that saw what happened were this construction crew that was out front of the school. Now i think everytime i drive by them they're gonna point at me to show their friends. Aw well.. it's not the worst thing that coulda happened.

I think that honestly this event was a sign from God to stop messing around. I do a lot of stupid things driving my car (went 133mph sunday morning :roll: ) and this occurrence i think made me think about what if there was a car in that turn lane. Is it worth it to burn a little rubber and risk hurting someone else? To risk ruining my car? To risk a lot of things that could happen? Lesson learned. It isn't. It's not worth it.

I know, i'm a dumbass. Can anyone tell me what i need to check out to make sure i didn't damage anything that i can't see/feel? Driving felt exactly the same.. no exterior visual damage. I basically hit a curb (normal height i'm pretty sure) hard.. if i don't feel anything wrong, and nothing's smoking.. am i ok as far as car damage?

Oh, just check the undercarriage for shit to be dented and look at your suspension...But if you dont feel it now, i doubt anything bad happened...

I personally wouldnt do that kind of shit right in front of your school though...cop sees that and you are in deep shit.

i remember i did this once in my rx-7... turned a corner... in a busy intersection... thank god it was an awkward time of day... no one was there went 180 facing the wrong way... so i just kinda left..

but your lucky no curb damage... check your suspension mounting points and all to make sure nothing under neath got bent up

yeah the cops hang out a ways up the hill to catch teen drivers.. but can see them before i get out of our parking lot so i know whether to drive really slow or not.

PS- when i said i have torque.. up there.. it was by no means bragging.. but i copied this from when i posted it on a non-car forum.

Would cops get you on reckless driving for that? I mean what if you just hydroplane and shit happens.. it isn't always under your control.

i'm pretty sure my rims are fine.. if they were damaged it wasn't a whole lot, but i'll check them more tmrw.

yeah.. the only cool kind of drifting is professional drifting.. so far, the pro's are the only people i have seen who can do it like its supposed to be.. not sliding into a curb and royally fucking your car up like one of those videos up there ^
