i am actually thinking about buying a few spare blocks for my project car... building one up dropping it in and then selling the other ones built in a similar manner on ebay... i don't know of a lot of people that buy old blocks and refab them but i know it would be a good home business on the side... if you do it right its hard to lose money

im glad you guys are giving me the actual feedback i need. My dad thought it would be a waste. he thought i was talking about building crate engines the equivilant of man o'wars i guess

but i see it like this, i buy an old 302 and rebuild it, then practuce porting and polishing heads n stuff, the woola, the buyer gets a rebuilt 302 for their stang with some extra ponies. i even dreamed so far as to switch out to windsor heads..

If u can do them and take the money and build up a complete machine shop, than do it. A good machine shop is always busy, and once established as "a good one" your in like flint. Let the builders worry about selling motors, let them come to you for blue printing and balancing, head porting and the like....

eventually the junkyards will run lean

maybe you can go to the scrap yards where they crush the cars and ask them if you can have the blocks that come in them for a small fee

lol

you will probably pay more money than you're looking to spend, but people are selling blocks all the time on www.corral.net

also if you have any local mustang gurus, look there...
