recomendations for a laptop?

hey guys..i recently had my computer moved from my room to my sister's cause my phone jack gave out ..so anyways i want to get a laptop..not really a high tech gaming one..but maybe one that i can save music and porn on( haha jk.....mainly porn) anyways and pretty much use for school..comes with word, powerpoint, etc..im thinking of going to like best buy or circuit city ..any recommendations ...or which i should stay away from..i really dont know much about laptops...by the way if have verizon dsl..will i have to pay more to have it hook up to the net or how does it work..any input would be appreciated..thanks
