San Diego/L.A. Fires..

You Guys on here holding up ok?

LOS ANGELES (KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO) -- The Mayor of San Diego Jerry Sanders expects the fire to reach the city of San Diego today. KNX 1070'S Tome Reopelle reports that the fires have reached Powway and Rancho Bernardo which are in the city.

There are six major fires throughout San Diego County that have altogether burned more than 100,000 acres. The Witch Creek, Harris and have merged and could create a blaze larger than the Cedar fire of 2003.

Around 250,000 people have been evacuated from various communities in San Diego County. Qualcomm stadium has been opened to evacuees.

i'm kind of surrounded by them.. but theres no way (knock on wood) that the fires could reach as deep into SD as i am..

the red dot is where i am relative to the fires.

I have a bunch of friends who've had to leave there homes in that area

Apparently cellphone usage is a no-no so they fireman can use the lines to try and fight them.

yeah you can breathe, but it hurts my throat and makes me cough.. the sky is yellow.. but there isn't a whole lot of smoke cover anymore. Ash is falling all over.

I have to go to work tonight.. who the hell is goin to being goin to a restaurant tonight, honestly?

Actually you might have a bit of business, since people are leaving there homes they have to go somewhere to eat.

Fires suck. They teach you to be prepared for hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and even nuclear war. Somehow public officials forget about fire. They suck and can do alot of damage from the smoke and ash. Its scary as hell when it looks like your standing on another planet because the sky is the wrong color and you cant breath without gagging. After the last one I was in, there were tons of dead birds and wildlife form the smoke.

What bothers me most is the smell. The first few hours is tolerable but after a while it makes you want to puke. You cant get away from it. We've taped up door and window seals to keep that crap out.

yeah the smell of smoke and ash is horrible.. its throughout most of my house and is very pungent when u walk outside.

If you have to, tape it up. Change your AC filter if you have one. We found most scented candles make the smell worse. At least try and keep one room sealed off for when you cant take it or if it starts irritating your throat too much. You gotta do that kind of stuff now because if you wait and it gets worse, you wont be able to get it out of the air.

while funny I wouldn't deem that very appropriate - I lived in CA for awhile... thank goodness I never had to endure something this catastrophic. Eastern WA gets a ton of forest fires in the "hot" months here... fortunately I live in western WA - Just hope nobody gets hurt, especially those trying to put out the blaze. I haven't heard the weather report for San Diego county but hopefully it is not windy. And hopefully it will rain soon.

yea it sucks over here. im in san diego right now too. UCSD got closed for today and tomorrow so we had no school and its on "red alert"
