Porsche Carrera GT went out of control, left the inside track and careened onto the grass, hit a barrier and caught fire at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, San Bernardino County officials said.

The passenger, Corey Nicholas Rudl, 34, died at the scene. The driver, Benjamin Miles Keaton, 39, was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he died about an hour later, according to the county

i think i would try to get some money out of it if it were me... to have two people die like that ... ouch

A few things bother me here :

1) A $450,000 Porsche supercar which essentially is a Le Mans class race car, is having handling problems on a race track.

2) The owner ignoring his mechanics advice and concerns.

3) The lack of self responsibility. If your doing 130mph on a race track knowing your car is having problems, its your own fault if something happens.

4) Having a play area for kids anywhere near a race track.

5) I dont think amateur drivers should be using pit-outs while other cars are running. They dont have officials and spotters looking out for them.

6) The idea that Porsche is somehow responsible. Are gun makers responsible for someone dying from a gunshot ? No they aren't. But thats a another topic.

7) The disregard of the waiver regardless of the type of negligence.

8) This statement :

"Tracy Rudl also believes that the lawsuit will benefit others. "My loving husband was an innocent passenger in an expensive sports car that inexplicably failed to incorporate a modern, life-saving safety feature. He was a passenger on a racetrack that was dangerously designed. While driving on racetracks always involves risks, the result of this case and the redesign of the track will help eliminate unnecessary risks and make the sport of high speed driving safer."

Her husband was pretty much blameless here, except for agreeing to travel at deadly speeds. Traction control is a defeatable feature on these cars ,so it would have been shut off anyways. Not once did she mention the negligence of the cars owner. She admits that racetracks always involves risks, but she believes someone should pay for this risk now that it has affected her personally.

I SAY THE PASSENGER KNEW THE RISK WHEN HE GOT IN THE VEHICLE VOLUNTARILY AND WAS PROLLY HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE TILL HE WENT SPLAT. HIS CHOICE HIS DECISION HIS RISK, PERIOD. SHE'S PROLLY JUST PISSED OFF CUZ HE WAS DOING THIS IN SECRET AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW AND THUS WAS NOT INCLUDED. OR SHE WAS MAD THAT HE WAS DOING THAT AND IS NOW IS TRYING TO MAKE SOMETHING OFF OF IT. EITHER WAY I THINK AN ACCIDENT IS AN ACCIDENT AND THAT'S WHERE IT SHOULD STAY.
