Wife bought me a new toy!

Went out and bought the Canon Powershot S5 IS. It's an 8.0mp camera with 12x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, 2.5" fold out swinging LCD display, continuous burst shooting, and 640x480 30 fps video with stereo audio.

how much did you pay? I have the s3 and its exactly the same... specs too.. :wink I think they just slapped stickers on it to make it seem better.. mine only has 6 MP. One complaint i have with canons is they eat batteries like its tossed salad... i can get maybe 60 pictures with a set of 4 batteries.. so i said to hell with it, and bought lithium Ion batteries.

If your looking to invest into a extremely decent camera, look at digital SLR camera.

MSO & 87fox, the camera was 550, and everything came to 700 bucks after purchasing extra Ni-Mh batts, two 2Gb cards, and a nice case.

MSO, I was at first not liking the flip out, but after having it explained to me, and playing with it, it's nice. You can hold the camera up high or low, and flip and swivel the display around as needed so you can see your shot.

I thought I was liking the Panny, Luis, but after looking at em both, I liked the features on this one better. Plus you can make the shutter bark like a dog! lol

Got some test pics coming up here in a minute.

Gorgeous pics dude

Here's a few I just shot. Not familiar at all with the controls & settings yet, so I'm sure they could be better.

Note in the first pair, that the first one of each is taken with no zoom at all, and then the second of each is the same pic, but with 12x zoom.

I take all my pictures in manual mode since i took photography classes in my sophomore and junior year in High School. It really does make a difference.

Yeah I'm just an amateur, I've never taken a photography class in my life. But I take a shit pile of pictures, especially over the road. You can see some of the 15,000+ pictures we have on our computer here if you're interested in pics and stuff:

Note that all of these were taken with a little 4mp Fuji with a lowly 3x optical zoom, many times shot through the windshield of a bouncing Mack truck at 65 mph. Some of the older ones were just shot with a disposable camera from many moons ago.
