Wrecked my Car

At 8:30 this morning, I wrecked my every day drive. I was driving down Raven Ridge with my heat blasting, and listening to the morning traffic report. Well coming around a curve, my windshield decided to fog up and the moment I cleared the curve, the sun was right over the road.

Well the effect caused this gold glare to engulf my windshield and I couldn't see at all. I tried looking through my passenger side, but it was just as bad as my driver side.

To make matters worse, I was approaching a traffic light.

I did the only thing I could do, I went to pull over on the grass and I almost pulled it off. The only problem was the stop light ahead sign and I wacked that at 10 miles an hour with the passenger side of my car. I didn't see it til the moment I hit it. I knew it was there but it was better then all the possibilities.

I could have hit someone stopped at the traffic, or worst, I could have run a red light and got taken out by moving traffic, but I didn't.

I ran through all the possibilities in my head and I think taking out the sign was better then hitting someone.

Yeah and it was better the sign then hurting someone, that's for sure. I know my insurance is probably going to go up, and my dads going to take my Buick since that is technically his car, but at least no one was hurt.

Funny thing was that this accident happened one year after I got hurt in a major car accident that claimed my first Stang and my ability to run. I think it was god telling me "You may have lived through that other car accident, but you ain't invincible.

I could say how I posted in the other thread about Cam wrecking his car that karma is a bitch, but I won't.

I'm glad you weren't hurt, wolfman, and I'm glad you managed to avoid a worse situation.

How bad is the car? Still drivable?

It's still driveable, yeah. The passenger side front is torn up to the point the door won't open, and I need to get the side panel replaced, but the damage all in all was pretty light considering the alternatives. She'll be fine in a few days I bet.

Scared the living hell out of me and having to call my father to come get the car and take me to school was pretty depressing. I think my pride is hurt more then the car.

I'm pretty sad because I loved that car and it was just like if I wrecked my Stang. It felt pretty bad.

We've all been there man. I wrote off a pristine 68 Beaumont when I was about your age, had every dollar to my name in it. Before I had it insured too. lol

Your pride will heal man, and don't feel too bad. They're called accidents for a reason. Otherwise we would be going around saying "Hey, guess what? I just had a purpose!" lol

My dad is going to file an insurance claim even thou he could pay for it out of pocket. It sucks, a lot. It looks like I lost my everyday drive forever.

I loved that car.

Karma is a bitch.

How much damage are we talking? Too expensive for you to be able to cover?

The damage isn't to bad. It can be repaired, we're talking the right fender and the front bumper and the right headlight.

Ah ok. I was thinking maybe you could convince the old man to let you pay for it and fix it yourself. Maybe save you a shitpile on insurance down the road.
