Computer Nerds Might Like This

Currently I am running 1 terabyte of storage on my PC right now...

Well I have an extra tower laying around my apartment and the other night I decided to order (2) Seagate Barracuda 750gig drives and (2) 250 gig drives...

What is someone going to do with 3 terabyte's of storage you might ask?

I really don't know as of yet...I currently use about 500gigs of my current terabyte...Pictures, Movies, Applications, Operating System(s), etc...

Im thinking a mini-server in my apartment...Run server 2003 on it...Maybe have another box and run some UNIX/Linux on...Dont really know just yet...But I do know I cant wait for the drives to get here...

Computer stuff is like chinese to me. When I went to pick out a laptop, I picked the one that I thought looked the best

Sometimes that is the best way to do it...As long as you don't dive into the guts of the PC then I bet it will last you for a hot minute...

what operating system are you running? xp wont recognize a terabyte will it or at least without splitting it up into 2 500 gig drives right?

Yes I actually split them into 4 separate logical drives...

i have half a terabyte on my main machine

problem is..

my power supply blew the other morning soooo....

I just bought an infinity 700w power supply.

What raid array are you going to run in that machine.

Dont really know...Still kinda wondering that myself...I need to sit down with a pencil and paper and think about it...

Sweet... between all My PC's I have 1.2 Terrabytes of space.

80 Gb HDD in a 3 yr old PC
120GB in my laptop
300GB external HDD (contains back up of my main PC)
4x 80GB in Raid 0 on my main PC
500GB external HDD containing all my downloads.

Out of that, half my laptop is filled, over half my main rig is filled, the 500GB has like 50GB left or something, the 300GB has 100GB's used.

so, I've used over half a terrabyte already

Raid 5 or Raid 0+1 I think are the best for servers

cool, wish I had cash for some seagates, but I had to buy a new pump for my rig... and so far I don't think I need more space... at least until my Rig is fixed
