Wow that was not expected.... They are probably going to design a new engine for it before they put out anymore fo the GT's. But that is just a guess. Only thing you can do is wait for more info I guess.

If you think about it the Ford GT hasn't had many substantial changes for a while.

Ford is not making money and is cutting out everything that is not making money. Ford may go under.

Here's the article that says no more GT

http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/02/03/gt_over/

But it also states that it's been very profitable, with 1300 sold.

I read the reason Ford is discontinuing the GT is that it does not meet the 2007 Federal Bumper requirements and it was too expensive to redesign the bumpers to meet the standard. There was a concept car about a year or so ago, loosely based on the old AC Cobras that many were expecting to replace the GT.

i don't think Ford is loseing and money on the GT. that was the only way they would let the car into production is if the car made them money. every thing i have seen the GT's are pulling at least twice the MSRP. i think it was more of a test platform for the demand for a super high end Ford super car. but thats just me.

Do you know how much it cost to redesign the bumpers. They have to do new crash tests. They have to crash a new Ford GT! How many, I don't know.

Ford will not go under.. If anything they will be making more money when the cutbacks are done. The only new car I would ever buy is a Ford or GM.

I think everyone else who is normal feels about the same.

I don't see the government allowing Ford or GM to go under. They would bail them out with a loan similar to what happened to Chrysler when Iacocca was at the helm.
