I have too many stupid stories and I like sharing them. I was debating the "spanking" issue with my wife. She's Mexican and got the "belt" the way I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. My parents stopped whacking me with the "board of education" on a regular basis by the time I was 5. Even though I wasn't beat, I turned out pretty well. My wife turned out fine too but had alot more painfull experiences as a kid.

My last beating....
I was about 8. It was summer and that meant both parents were at work and all my brothers were out trolling the hood. I was at home bored again when my Dad called from work. He said "Boy, go outside and pull the weeds by the driveway. I'll be home by 5 and it better be done". Of course, I was like "yes sir" and then went back to playing my Atari.

I dont remember what I did all day but I do remember looking at the clock and seeing it say 4:30. I was like OH SHIT, the weeds! I immeadiatley stopped what I was doing and ran outside to start pulling. Man, that was dumb! There's no way I can get this finished before Pops gets home.

See, we had a long narrow driveway made of concrete that ran the length of the house on one side. My Dad had put big old railroad ties about a foot out from the driveway that ran parallel for the whole streatch of driveway. Between the ties and the driveway he dumped rock. This was just a cheap way to make the driveway a little wider. Well anyhow, thats where the weeds were growing. About 25 yards worth and the weeds were really deep. So I figured, there's gotta be a better way to do this.

So I go into the garage and look for some ideas. I see nothing that can help me until I was walking out...... a gas can!

So I take the gasoline and pour it all the way down the driveway. All 5 gallons or so. I covered every weed and was sure I was in good shape. Only thing left to do is go get a match!

When I lit that thing it was incredible! WOW! Burn all my work away! Unfortunately, I did not realize it was getting out of hand really quick. Suddenly the whole side of the driveway had 5 foot flames and it was burning black as hell. To make it worse, it got so hot, it started the tar in the ties on fire and now it was way out of control. I tried to get the garden hose over but it wouldnt reach. I was fucked and the flames were getting close to the house!

Just about the time when I started thinking about jumping in the fire to spare my Dads wrath, he pulls up in his car. He yells "Jesus Christ Boy, what have ya done this time!!"

I totally lied in all the excitement " it just started on its own Dad, I have no idea how it happened"

Thats when the fire department pulled up and whipped out the hose and put it out. They looked right at my Dad and said, "you can smell the gasoline Sir,.. why would you use gas on these weeds?" My dad just looked at me and I knew by that look I was one dead mother fucker.

My Dad took me inside and whooped me good. Real good. The crappy thing is that somehow, not all the weeds burnt. It still amazes me that there were weeds still in that thing. My dad made me go out the next day and pull the weeds that were left and wash all the burnt gas off each and every rock.

Did your parents use spanking/paddeling etc????
If they did, did you learn form it???

Oh, I know I deserved it big time. Its funny that some parents would have used a "grounding" or timeout or some other wimpy punishment. Not my Dad.

dad and mom are from mexico so spankings came naturally...haha...i turned out alright though..i was bad when i was little and instead of figuring out ways to behave i was busy trying to figure out ways to protect myself from spankings after i got in trouble.. i.e. putting books behind my pants or stuffing clothes there..well i thought i was slick till one day they realize and i got some beating

I got ripped by the fraternity paddle a few times by dad. He was a big football player and he spanked me about 3 different times and that was all I needed in life. He mad it misserable. So if your kids misbehave knock the crap out of them several times instead of little swats all the time

I whoop my kids when they need it. They generaaly dont do the shit I did but when its needed I can dish it out. Usually just the threat works.

I have always been a stubborn person even as a kid...One time I was like 5 and I said something mean to my mom (dont remember what) my dad told me to say I was sorry but I refused so he made me stand in the corner until I apologized...he said I stood in that friggin corner all day and all night until bed...and then still wouldnt say I was sorry...

I did get beat once...I got caught stealing...I was young maybe 10 or 11...but def old enough to know it was wrong...other than that...No...all my dad had to do was yell at me and I would pee my pants...sometimes literally...

I used to get back handed a lot for talking back...oh and those smacks in the back of the head as you walked away...lol

When I was like 18 I was getting ready to leave for class and I used a papertowel to blow my nose...my mom was like GO GET A TISSUE FROM THE BATHROOM!!! so me being the smartass that I am I told her to calm down I would give her the 85 cents to buy another roll...well she threw a metal spoon at my face and then came flying at me...that was the only time in my life that I ever laid a hand on my mother...I pushed her dead up against the counter and cocked back...then reality hit and I walked away...I was so scared to come back home for like 3 days...


Its funny you got me thinking of what a bad kid I was and how I should have been beat much...much more...lol...but I was daddys little girl and me and my mom barely even talked...now that she is so sick I regret that...we have been close for about 5 yrs now...but I lost out on so much time with her...It's amazing what you learn with age...

Ya dad was the voice of reason in my house, my wife is a redhead, and when dad got pissed and was gonna whip some ass my kids knew that they had crossed the bear's line. A fearing child is a be-having child! A kid in jail is one you don't have to worry about for a while. Two out of four have spent a night in the Crossbar hotel, and you know when they get out it's like they spent the night at the Holiday in Express!

I think its about the only way a kid will learn...

Theres a fine line is punishment and abuse though...The parent should not enjoy the beating of a kid...And it should be moderate according to age...

meh theres no line just in the eye of the beholder.

my son just turned 3 and we spanked him up until here recently we really cut back. hes smart enough and outgoin enough sitting in the corner is torture to him. he still gets spankings for certain thing though. like hitting and etc....

one thing with kids the punishment has to be fast and consistent. i took a class on behavior mods in college and anyone that has kids should at least pick up a psych book. its the most helpful tool ive had in being a parent
