IMO, they are exceptional athletes. They deserve to be compensated. Granted, half a million for 16 weeks, yeah thats a lil much, and a 25k fine for being human. Fuck off.

But then, look at baseball. Hell, 3/4 of the fucks that play are fatter than Drew Carey and they get huge $$$

Maybe its right or maybe its wrong,but just because he plays a game for a living doesn't make it any less of a job/business. He signed a contract understanding what his profession required of him.

The Minnesota Vikings are a company first, and a team second. These players are paid professionals.

Could they have given him some lieniency ? Yeah sure,but judging by that story he didnt give any notice. I know if I missed a few days of work without notice,my employer wouldnt be happy wither. He shouldnt get special treatment just because he gets paid big money.

Its to bad it has to be that way,but business is business.

40 games a season in high school was rough for me.

But getting fined for going to a funeral, that is just completely fucking stupid.

as a HUGE minnesota vikings fan i am absolutely ashamed in the motion to fine him. it is utterly horrible that they are trying to fine him for taking care of his family. i'm sure that these fines will be squashed by the player's union but its the fact of the matter that they care more about money than actually taking care of their people... he made the right choice, after the vikings were done with him they would just cut the ties & who will be there? his family.. good on him..

There is nothing that requires a company to give you bereavement pay. Besides ,like I sad AGAIN ,according to that article he didnt give any notice of his absence. He missed 3 practices and a game. Thats serious.

He took much more than one day off and he still has a job. You wouldnt be so lucky I can assure you.
