Not bad, plus with the type of degree you will have you will go fast track to command of a small Cutter like an 87 footer. Dude you will do well in the CG. It is not the normal Military, during Katrina the USCG was the only service that had their shit to gather!!!!! Your folks will warm to the idea, and be proud of you. There are so many duty stations, and challenges you will never be bored. And when we are young we all like any thing that is a challenge! Don’t sit in an office of fire station, grab the ring; life is a one time deal, GO FOR IT. I pass the National Cemetery here on NAS Pensacola every day on my way to work, I never cease to be amazed how fast a new section fills up. And it's not just the WWII vets but it's our guy's from Iraq. It is a stark reminder that we are all mortal! But it is also a reminder how this country honors our Vets!

I agree with ya 100% on that one....I've been in the Air Force for 9 years, never understood how one branch is better than the other. When it comes down to it, we all raised our right hand to protect our nation.

Now granted, i'd never trade in what i have seen/done since being in the air force, and i'd highly recommend it to most people. But heck, before long we wont be individual branches...we'll all just be Department of Defense. With the way the Joint Task Force stuff is going these days, i really do see just one military. Keep in mind us AF guys are pulling convoy duty out in the middle east also!

that is funny due to the fact that whether or not there is a war going on the Coast Guard is at war 100% of the time. while the other military services have 1 priority (kill stuff) the USCG performs 7 different missions simultaneously, and can change missions on the fly with little to no error, with a force that is smaller than the NYPD, and WAY under funded. most dont know that the CG is constantly at our "war" and dont know of the things we do. Honestly... how many poeple actually knew the Coast Guard was America's first naval force under the neame of the Revenue Cutter Service? Not many (maybe a few more that read this). Educate yourself and family on all aspects military, and hell if you want them to talk to someone currently enlisted then have them call me. I have NO PROBLEM talking to anyone who wants to join or talking to their families about it.
