y'all actually get points for the good conduct???? only thing we get points for is the Meritorious Service Medal (e-7 and above) Accommodation Medal (e-5 and above) and the Achievement Medal

i've been deployed, all i got was a southwest asia ribbon (no points) ribbons and medals are hard to get for us...and i go tdy for a good bit of the year..oh well makes it cheaper to keep the uniform up!

E-6 in under 4???? y'all must risk losing rank really easy or something.

that is funny due to the fact that whether or not there is a war going on the Coast Guard is at war 100% of the time. while the other military services have 1 priority (kill stuff) the USCG performs 7 different missions simultaneously, and can change missions on the fly with little to no error, with a force that is smaller than the NYPD, and WAY under funded. most dont know that the CG is constantly at our "war" and dont know of the things we do. in all seriousness i want to look into joining the coast guard or something that helps my country... seeing as im limited by the lack of coasts in nebraska what are some other options open to me?

you could still join the CG. you dont have to have coasts the join. now if you are wanting to stay home you will need to join a Reserve branch of military. if you dont mind leaving and travelling then all branches of service are open to you

just to get the fact's straight i wasn't dissing cost guards i have much respect for them .
i think its harder saving a life than killing but what do i know im just a little kid . but then the thing is even thought all the branch's have side beef in the end were all fighting the war together

sadly enough some people do have beef with other services, but largely its a comradery. like in the movie The Guardian they had the beef between USCG and USN. that kind of stuff does happen but its on a MUCH smaller scale... i cant stand it when people are being srious about beefing with another military service... and im sure HMUSN you know of the rivalry between day workers and shift workers lol
