Coast Guard


im thinking about joining the coast guard after i get my associates degree in fire technology.

my family dosent really support it so im kinda having a hard time.

You'll get all kinds of opinions here. I say do it if thats your motivation. Do what you like. Ask your family if they'd like to pay your bills forever. Im sure they dont! Do what you like to do. Coast Guard is a good gig and looks great on a resume.... especially in your field.

My son in the USCG, and there is another MM member who in also USCG. I'm retired Navy and the USCG or Marines are the only services I put my son into. he loves the CG, the do law enforcement boardings, busts cubans, chases druggies. The CG guys have an idea of what they are doing when they get out of boot camp. If you want serve your country, and make a differance just do it. They get to do a lot of cool thinkg. just tale a small boat the crews are tighter, my son is on an 87 footer, has been four years, is an E-5 and has 5 rows ribbons and his cutter pin. Not bad.

after i get the fire technology degree, i would have to go to humbolt to tontinue my education (bachelor's degree). but theres no way i could afford tuition.

it makes perfect sence to me.

yes man the military will take care of u. it can really suck sometimes. but they take care of you... just dont let the recruiter promise you shit do you research and make sure if you want a school inroute after boot camp that that stuffs in paper man trust me
