I don't know how far this has spread but there was a white cop in my town that shot a 12 year old african american boy that had a toy gun that looked real. The cop asked him to put it down and he refused to so the cop shot a round at him and he died later. Now it is all the news talks about and al sharpton along with the naacp are coming down to my area to do alot of protests and marches. The mother of the dead son wanted the cop charged for murder and it didn't happen. Now the family wants to go to court again along with the protesters. It looks like another Jena 6 around here!

well the kid shoulda put the gun down IMO, i mean that may sound harsh to some people but my dad is a cop and u think about some of the people they come in contact with...that kid could have had issues and shot the cop, so the cop told him to put it down and he didnt so he takes a shot thats whats gonna happen...cops are trained to kill when they shoot, and im sure the cop still has a hard time with even tho his life could have been in danger

yea the cops job isn't to take punches and gun shots. the kid should have put the gun down and at the age of 12 he knows when a cop tells him to do something he should do it.

exactly, and the kids mom shouldnt be bitchin bc she should have given the kid enough sense not to point guns at cops and to listen to em...specially when they have a gun pointed back at u....stupid

If anyone ever points a gun at me even if it is fake but looks real, the first thing I'm going to do is try to shoot them before they shoot me if I have a gun.

The mom is going way overboard and crazy over the whole matter when she should really be pointing the finger at herself for not raising her son right

its not easy to do something like that but he has to think of what could happen to him

12 years old is PLENTY old enough to know that you should follow a cop's orders when he tells you to do something. i cannot feel sorry for this kid, because it was his own fault that he didn't cooperate. i completely understand why the cop would have shot him, and i agree with WLJohnson when he says that a cop never knows what he is up against. this is a prime example of a police officer's training instincts kicking in in a potentially dangerous situation

that al sharpten is a POS as is jackson as they use racial BS to get $$$$ and power...to bad that the kid died but the parents need to let kids know it's not cops and robbers in the street when a policeman is there...

arrested/fined would have been much better.

He should have known better than to point a gun at a cop regardless of if it's a toy of not.

now let me ask you this.. your a cop and some one points a gun at you. are you going to take the time to check to see if it's real? because in that split second that your looking for that orange tip ;if the gun was real he could have already fired off 4-5 shots in your direction.

Only that he was shot twice.
