air force here. i signed up for 6 years and got to put E-3 on quicker but not right away. i think if you have some college done you can also put E-3 on quicker. not sure its been a little while since i came in so it could have all changed. definitely get it in writing so you dont get screwed.

well for the CG i know that if you switch rates (jobs / specialties) you will get a reduction in rank, due to not knowing the new job you are going into (unless the rate splits). i dont know how the chari force does it so hopefully one of them could answer.. if they cant then ill ask one of the air force guys here at my work

ex-Navy here. i came in as E-3. i came in to be a Nuke, so i had to enlist for 6 because there's 1 1/2 to 2 years of school before you go to the fleet. i put on E-4 right out of A-school (about 3 months after Boot Camp). i got to the boat and reenlisted 2 months later, and put on E-5. i was an E-5 for almost 5 years, then i made E-6. that's what i got out as. and my whole career was spent working on submarines

im gonna be a "Puddle Pirate" for next halloween. Im gonna get the top part of a pirate costume and some waders. im thinkin about getting one of those duck rings or floaties also lol

yeah u can apply to cross-train in a certain window of time. im applying starting Dec. 1. thats when my window opens. and im pretty sure u dont lose rank when u cross train.

you dont loose rank when you cross train. first term enlistees the window to cross train is 59-67 months i belive for 6 year enlistees. after that u basically can only cross train into under manned jobs.

damn i saw every branch and saw that O-10 gets like 16k a month ... is it really that hard to get that spot? i mean 16GRAND A MONTH!!!

If your in the Air Scouts and it id a job that is lacking in the numbers needed you don't lose a a paygrade. My son in law (the blue sheep of the family) just did that went from jet mech to a network enginer.

yeah, man, that's damn near impossible. O-10 is an admiral in the Navy and Coast Guard and General in the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps.
