Who Is The Champ: Buick Grand National Or Mustang?

Hey Guys,
I have been a big fan of Mustangs forever. This is my first post here and I am happy to have found this place. I have owned at least a dozen of 87-93 Mustangs over the years and loved every minute of it.
I recently purchased a 67 Pontiac Tempest which I made into a GTO clone and I just sold it on Ebay. I am a member of a site called Performance Years (for Pontiac guys). While looking through a post in our LOBBY, I noticed someone had posted about a Buick GNX, so I mentioned that while it was a great car off the line back in the eighties and early nineties when it was popular, it was not the king of the street as the 87-93 Mustang was in my opinion (all in good fun). Well all the Buick Grand National, T-Type guys came out of the woodwork and only like two Mustang supporters came out.
I would love it if any Mustang fans could go to performanceyears.com register (it's free) go to the Tech Forums, then the LOBBY and you will see the GNX posting, it is 3 pages of us going back and forth, I am furiously defending the Mustang and the Buick guys are knocking our Mustangs left and right in the discussion. I am badly out numbered HELP!!!
Thanks,
Ant

If I could get some flankers, I could own some of those Buick guys. I'm in if someone would lend me some support.

Come on, it's nothing a fox can't beat. Sure it might be a little more work, but a Stang can run with the Grand Nationals.

I have had way too many wins in my Stangs against Grand Nationals and pretty much everything else to let these guys bash the Mustangs mighty name. All my posts are valid and make strong arguements if you care to view them, but these guys are just outnumbering the few who are supporting the Mustangs. The rest just follow and go with the majority and right now the majority is the Buick owners on the site who are coming forward.

stock vs. stock, the grand national will win. those grand nationals are BEASTS. but look how much they're selling for.. even junks.. they are outrageous.. modded vs modded, the fox will absolutely embarrass the GN's..

a GN is a bad ass car.
stock for stock it runs with an 05 GT mustang.

the only problem with it is that it wasn't the best looking car in the world.

you can't argue with their title "fastest production car on U.S. soil for 1986"
13.9 at 100mph is damn good for an 80's car. a v6 at that.

Just for some of you people who like to read.. Ive learned a lot about GNX's

The Buick GNX was produced with the thought of making it at least 1 full second faster than the regular GN. They did a nice job achieving this goal as Motor Trend, Cars Illustrated, Car & Driver, and others tested the GNX and it ran a solid best of 13.26 @ 104 mph. It did 0-60 in 4.5 seconds which was unheard of. The amazing part is, they didn't even do any engine work to the GNX! The motor itself was completely un-touched. All the performance came with simple "tweaks" of the current parts, which can be done to any Grand National! These cars came off the factory ready to be modded and raced. The GNX and Grand National rank right up there as one of the quickest, most dominate, and collectible cars of all time.

These cars are very rare and collectible and are worth up to $50,000 right now if it has little miles on it. only 547 were produced. This thing was a complete monster as it was rated at 300 horsepower and 400 ft/lbs of torque. No engine modifications were made, but almost every single performance part was modified to give a bit more performance. Examples of these changes include the turbo, intercooler, computer chip, exhaust, suspension, tires, wheels, fender flares, and engine vents on the side panels. The transmission was also modified to increase performance.

For you Corvette People; The Buick GNX was canceled after 87 due to the fact that it was out performing what was known as the top muscle car, The corvette at the time. The Sales % plummeted on the Corvettes because of the GNX....

Do the '93 Cobra's not compare close to the GNX's? Or what about the Cobra R's. Didnt' they run pretty fast?

I want to know where that info cam from.

last time I looked the GN's were only at 235/330 .. granted it was under rated but I doubt by that much.

He was quoting the GNX's. I guess those were better than a regular GN. Kinda like a GT and Cobra.
