Oh my... The titties and hippos just crack me up.

The engine here is a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 117 V8 5.6 Liter Light Aluminum Aloy block. When its little brother the 116 V8 4.2 LLAAB is sitting right next to a Ford 4.6 Modular Cast Iron block they look very similar except for the main caps.

I tore this engine down with 147,000 miles on it after a plastic timing chain guide broke and caused the valves to hit the pistons. So much for a Mercedes Benz lasting forever huh?

Anyway since they just dont make em like the old 5.0's I think its worthy to note that there was absolutly NO RIDGE on the aluminum block cylinder walls after 140,000 miles! I think we can assume this is the direction the 4.6L is going as the LS1 is now already aluminum.

There is a special finish on the cylinder bores of the block called an electrolyte coating. This process is not done many places making it a small fortune to have done.

Just a bit of info for you all. The Anti-American scum over at benzworld.org didnt like hearing about how there $80,000 560SL Mercedes could not even outlive a $9000 302 Ford Mustang.

Hahahahahaha... No wonder they Banned me!

Yeah I guess its a bit off topic.. But I was trying to imply that the MOD 4.6 looks a lot like an older 420 engine.

You guys should come on over my place and do some advertising for yourselfs. I could use the post and I only cover up to 1993 anyway.

Anyway... I guess all is well that ends well.

Even if I didnt see where that guys booger really went.

most of your ATV's, dirt bikes and snowmobiles use nikisil. for the most part your suposed to be able to go through 3 sets of rings before the cylinders need to be replated.
