While we sit at home enjoying christmas...Remember those who lay their lives down for ours in times of great despair. The men and women of the Armed forces, truly are our heroes. Heroes are those that do not make a great deal of money. They do not need the recognition. They do not want your pity. They want you to be free and safe. My brother Chad is one of those who believe in duty honor and bravery. He is my hero. I am forever grateful to the countless men and women of the Armed Forces, as we all should be. Below is a poem I sent my Brother, when he felt down and out. He said it made him feel loved and missed. Every little thing counts when they can come back from a mission and see someone misses them. Thanks to myspace, I can talk to him pretty frequently: even though some of the missions he goes on, last a couple of days/weeks. Chad is in a forward assault recon division which does not allow him much time for compassion, he said when he saw this; it made him cry. I had to write an english sonnett (which was my first) and had to follow the pentameter and this is what I came up with.......To all of those fighting for our freedoms, Thank You!!!! God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Brother...The Soldier
I remember long ago how we played,
So long has been our time apart we find,
Those days left innocent those times we prayed,
Days turn weeks, weeks to years keep hope in mind,
My Brother, my hero, God is with you,
When your mind grows weary and your heart still,
He sits upon your shoulders stuck like glue,
Think upon those memories: not the kill,
You are good by nature, please don't forget,
That counting the days has become our event,
Charles my brother, it's not like we've met,
By accident; we chose our paths descent,
My heart is with you brother; my soul heavy,
My sadness deepens, but hope breaks levies.

English Sonnet in 10 ft./syllables and 14 line iambic pentameter.
