Yup the 850 seems like a nice unit. Your best bet is to get 2 or 3 cameras in mind that you're interested in, and then head down to the store to check em out in person. Fire them up, look through the display, check out the zoom capability, how it feels in your hand. A good sales person should even have some pics shot with the camera on a computer in the store. Mine did up here.

i do photography on the side, and anything canon is worth looking into. i know a rebel isn't exactly small but its the best bang for the buck imo

whats a good store to buy cameras at.. i noticed it says 300 dollars at bestbuy, but only 250 on the net.. oh and 260 at circuit city.. so i should hit up circuit city and check it out?
