Where're my Computer nerds?

Can someone please explain the difference of a router and hub to me.....

I bought a hub by mistake from best buy to hook my 360 and computer up to the internet but apperntly i need a router instead.

now the thingi don't understand, is why did my computer read the internet connection through the hub, but not my 360?

ok, but how come my internet worked on the computer when it was plugged into the hub and the x box live didnt?

could have been settings on the 360.

how far did it get in the network tests on your xbox?

a hub is horrible. it sends info to all ports. its very old style of sending information. you dont need a router either. a switch will do you fine, switches send information only to the port that needs it. a router is a fancy type of a switch thats used for wan rather than just lan, it would just be over kill.

well i have a router and it won't allow me to set it up.....

i get through almost every step and then it just freezes
