Reason i ask is because i got a $50 gift card to Wal-Mart, but i would rather just have the cash so i can go snowboarding. Can i go to wal-mart and get $50, or do i have to spend it all AT wal-mart?

Gift cards are a fucking scam and i hate them

You SPEND 50 dollars to get a card that limits the spending of that 50 dollars to one store.. JUST so you can make it look like you took time in picking out the gift. That is ri-fucking-diculous.

At least now they have giftcards like credit cards that you can use just like a visa.

My uncle only buys best buy gift cards for me because one year, maybe 7 years ago, I told him I wanted a DVD for x-mas. Now he apparently thinks all I want for x-mas is DVDs even when I tell him otherwise. Luckily I see them to my step dad cause he always has something to buy there 0 : )

It has nothing to do with being ungrateful. I think gift cards are a fucking sham because companies screw people into buying them because it seems lazy if you just give money. I never said one thing about caring when someone gives them to me, i think its just a bullshit scam because people think that just because someone gave them money that it took no thought.

(most)people know when buying a gift card that it's only good for that specific store.

It's not a scam, its just something stupid that people buy into... of course people know that it's only good there. People buy gift cards at stores that he reciever of the card will go to.. generally. BUT the ONLY reason to buy it is to make it look like you put more time and thought into your gift than just giving someone 20 dollars.

lets see give a gift card so they can buy something the want or buy them a gift hoping they will like it. tough choice. saying companies sham you into buying them is like the fat woman saying mcdonalds made her fat. if you know the simple concept of NO then you wont be shamed into buying one. plus in order for them to sham you wouldnt they preasure you into buying them. everywhere i go sells them yes but there aint noone sitting there preasuring me into buying them.
