I started my tank off of another tank.........

I did a water change on my established tank, and took one of the existing filters that was running off the original tank and ran it on the new one.
I then took the old water from the 1t tank, combined it with other existing saltwater with live bacteria in it as well. I also used Bioactive reef sand.

All in all, out of the 33 gallons of water in the tank, only approximately 7 gallons of it were fresh salt water.

yea, the first tank i ever set up it took almost 3 weeks for the water to become crystal, so i knew what not to do this time around. Within 24 hours the water was clear, and within a week crystal.

4 shits and giggls i bought a $3 damsel to throw in Day 1 hour 4 and the son of a bitch is stick kicking. Didn't even get sick.

I see a clown in there. Nice tank. I was expecting a shark or something to go across the screen eating the small fortune in fish.

Hey nice fish, I have a 150 gallon malawi cichlid tank, with over 150 pounds of dead coral in it. I also have a 230 gallon reef tank, although the malawi is so much more fun

Awesome!

Had a 180 gallon tank with nothing except living corral and two 14" eels. I tried adapting a few angelfish but nothing got along too well with the eels, and eventually I grew old of the tank's upkeep (ph level, thawing frozen eel food, etc etc) and sold it to my neighbor.

If it wasn't for the work, I'd get another.

testings not that hard....... takes ten minutes.

My tank requires minimal upkeep right now, and i don't really plan on putting anything in there that requires more. I can go on vacation, and as long as some food is sprinkled in the tank everyday, i can be gone for a good 2 weeks

mine was hard... with the algae, etc constantly growing (live rock, reef, etc) the 02 levels (and thus, the ph levels) were ever-changing within the tank.

cleaning the tank is real easy.....i think the hardest part was trying not to get water everywhere
