Engine Swaps = Waste!

Im sorry, but it is. I drive a 6er, not by choice, but I do. Ive thought about the swap as all v6 drivers do. But lately, I have seen WAY to many posts about them in the v6 section.

Guys, it isnt worth the work, the time, the effort, the money. Im sorry, its just not. If you think your insurance will be cheaper because its originally a 6, your wrong. You have to claim it as a v8 so your spending all that extra money on the swap when it could go to insurance on an 8.

If your reasoning is because you want the weight of the 6er with the power of the 8, get a gt and strip a few things and you have the same result.

If you are "going to do the swap" and you have questions, be honest with yourself, it more than likly isnt going to happen. I know there are guys that have done it, but they are a select few.

Sorry for the rant, but I just felt compelled to say it. Ive just seen so many friggen threads about it recently.

Anyways, rant over.

thats a reaaaaaally dumb reason... the difference in weight of a v6 vs. its GT counterpart are the 2 added pistons, the 8.8 rear differencial and better suspension

if you added all the suspension and driveline components that a GT has to the V6, the one main advantage the 6 wud have is the weight up front

it wud be slight.. but ur front/back weight ratio wud be better in a 6

All im saying is that, in my opinion, it isnt worth the money. And if they are curious about it, go read one of the other 30 on the first 3 pages about it. Thats all im saying. All of the guys who keep answering the questions for the guys who are asking are all repeating themselves and wind up just linking them to another one of the threads anyways.

Why not make a sticky on the topic if its that common? But I do know what you mean. I think all the sections have alot of redundant threads. Its just new people being new... We were all new, trying t figure things out at one time or another, wether its new to cars or this site... A little patience and a helping hand goes a long way. Who knows one of the newbs might be the next Bill Gates and will track you down in 10 years for helping him and buy you whatever car you want...

Well if you have a sticky titled 3.8-4.6 swap ( or 4.0-4.6 swap ) and someone was getting ready to post a thread, dont you think they would read there first? "DING DING DING.... 1FastFox is closest to the actual price without going over..."

the problem with 6ers is that they're middle children

they're not as flexible as 2.3s, but not as powerful as the V8s

and its not cost-effective to do anything to a V6 as it is with a 2.3 or V8

in the end, if you plan on making power, gettina v6 is pointless and/or a waste of money

i wouldn't say thats not cost effective to mod a 6. you can put a turbo on a 6 just as you can on a 2.3.
