I blame the baby boomers. they are still convinced that japenese cars are somehow better than american. They buy avalons which are ugly cars becuase they think they last longer. Then they trade them in in 3 or 4 years anyway, like it matters. I never put less than 140,000 on any ford or jeep that i owned. But you cant talk to them they are still living in the 70s.

Ford will be fine.

I'm not a baby boomer and I have a Avalon with 140,000 miles... granted, its missing a door do to an accident... but everything works, except for a window.

its true

im thinkin about buying something reliable.. something that im gonna trade in long before the warranty wears off.. i dunno i think im gonna get the new camry cuz it will last longer than the fusion

cuz god forbid, doing research on something before you drop $20k and the next 4 years of your life to is outrageous!

it's quite the opposite here

there's a lot of late 80s/early 90s fords and chevys around here

only the newer cars are imports.. and the occasional ricer early 90s honda

I won't argue with that, here, the #1 automotive seller is Toyota, followed by honda, I think the third is nissan and ford is like in 6th or 7th...

I think you missed my point. Im not saying that a avalon wont last long. What im saying is that back in the mid/late 70s the american cars may have been junk for a lot of reasons. now they are just as good and any study will verify this. And what im saying is that i dont think its a design issue becuase i dont think that honda's or toyotas like the avalon are some great looking cars.

I got a freind. He is 46. a customer of mine and we hunt together. we have become good freinds. He owns a avalon. its 2 years old he has about 24,000 on it. It has been in the shop twice for something wrong with it. My stang 48,000, never been in the shop for a mechanical problem. My jeep had 90,000 on it before it had a problem with the front differential, and i have been off road in that thing in 7 different states on many a huntin trip. But even with that said you will never convince him that toyotas arent better made vehicles that are going to break down less and last longer. thats my point.

I agree. MY parents generation think that japanese cars are the only cars that are built to last. My jeep has 157,000 miles on it when i sold it 2 months ago, my stang has 151,000 and both have had less problems than my moms lexus es300 which has been in the shop 3 times at only 56,000 miles.

I will only buy american cars for as long as i live.

That my point. and i bet your mom still thinks and will always think the japenese cars are better.

And dont even get me started on german cars they are all together shit. Its a good think bmw dealers give you loaners when your car is in the shop. You gonna need it

My uncle has a 96 BMW 328i as a daily beater and it has 275k on it. Runs fine, but when it was new it would keep going into limp mode and had a bunch of other problems, and I believe lulu has said his mom's bimmer has had problems too. I have had nothing but American cars and it will stay like that

man i've seen american cars that were utter pieces of shit

rolling cow maneur

ready to break down and putter to a stop at any second

and those shits wud last another year or two of abuse before they finally bit the dust.. and even then it wudn't be a big problem but something stupid like a bad water pump and they just junk it cuz the pump wud cost more than the car lol
