X box Red ring of death. What to do to fix it

Im getting a Red ring of death X box that has been tampered with so Microsoft wont fix it. What exactly does Microsoft do to fix these things. I imagine not to many people know because they want to keep it under wraps but someone has to know or someone has a link to a site that tells you

how full is the ring?
and is it giving you a code when you cut it on?
that'll tell you whats wrong with it and thus how to fix it

or a can try google it if you can give me the answers

+1 i haven't messed with mine and it's been fine for right at 2 years now
and how many times has it happened to yours 8t6?
it's happened a few to mine, and i just unplugg it for a little while and turn it back on and it's fine

its not my X box im buying a pro X box with 20 gig hard drive. Bassicaly buying it for the hard drive to put it on mine. And then mabey fix the red ring X box but even if the box cant be fixed its still worth it for just the HD

Its not my X box that I play now.

I bought a pro series 360 and it has a rede ring of death.

The reason I bought it is because I want the hard drive off it.

I would like to fix the box but if I cant its ok because all I want is the HD off it anyway

But it would be awesome if I could fix it so I would have two Microsoft X box 360's

my friend actually wrapped his in warm towels and let it sit awhile ...and it was fixed

I bought this extra X box with a HD for 35 bucks. Understood lol

Well it is a 20gig X box and mine is a core so it doesnt have a hard drive. So I bought this one for the Hard drive but I want to try and fix this one

supposedly the towel trick heats up the xbox enough so whatever got loose sauters back together from the heat. that's the only at home fix it known right now.
