it appears that i did not understand the myth... I though they were doing a stationary treadmill and a stationary plane.. when in fact they had the plane on a tarp that was being pulled out from under neath it... logically the planes body will move cause the wheels aren't driving it...

wow im sorry i thought they were purposely going to have the body stationary

Thought everyone was talking about keeping the plane stationary. Of course it will fly if the conveyor belt is the length of a runway. The only thing the plane would have to overcome is the slight friction from the wheels.

even if the plane was not 100% stationary in the test it still took off going what appeared to be 2-3 mph and it took off really well, so..... the chances that it could still take off going 0mph are VERY high

The whole point is that a treadmill can not keep the plane stationary.

well if thats what the point was then i would have agreed i thought the point was that a plane could take off with out moving...

If this were in fact the case then why wouldnt aircraft carriers have a conveyer belt on them to lauch the planes...

I know they sling shot them, but I was saying if the conveyer belt thing worked that would probably use that instead as they could launch more planes simotaneously (sp?)... In otherwords Im sayign the conveyer things wont work...
