Started UTI this week....

So far its been pretty cool! Everything seems like its gonna be a bad ass learning experience! Tommorow were completely taking apart and reassembling a Chevy 4.3L v6 ( wish it was a 3.8 stang motor but same concept). The instructor i got is cool as fuck and funny as hell...real informative which will be good...just thought id share this since a few months back i posted about going and i got mixed feelings from everyone haha..

Dude just think of the 4.3L as a 350 with two cylinders chopped off.

Wait till you get to the challenge part where you and your team build a car with 10K to run on Drag, slalom, and braking (I think)

My cousin did a 88 Mustang GT... he told me they put a 2 stage nitrous system on it... they basically wasted all the money on the engine and left everything stock... He told me the car was so powerful that it jumped on the dyno and they lost the drag bacause the driver got shit scared and shut the car off half way down the track... never even saw the second stage... ironically though, they won the slalom

I hate to tell you this, but your going to learn a little bit about everything, but not a whole lot about anything. The cariculum is way too broad and you cover it way to fast to really get much out of it. I worked with 4 guys that had all graduated from UTI and didn't know their backside from a hole in the ground.

But I hope it works out good for you. Try to learn as much on your own as possible because they're not going to teach you much.

I know I sound like a jerk, but this is just my experience with UTI. I hope you are the exception.

I know you're not going to listen, I probably wouldn't either, but you should talk to a few UTI graduates and they will tell you what I am going to tell you.

San Jacinto College has a program that focus's on one manufacturer. You learn everything you need to know about that specific manufacturer. A dealership would much prefer a (insert car manufacturer of your choice) trained technician as opposed to a general mechanic (dime a dozen)

As I said, you probably won't listen to me, but in two years, you will wish you had. But good luck. Sorry to sound negative. Im happy that you are doing something with your life as opposed to playing videogames.

Nah dude its cool..they straight up told us first day..."we will teach you all the basics you need to know..but..there is so much out there today you will only know about 33% of what can be learned everything will come with experience". UTI offers MSAT programs as well...im going to try my ass off to get into BMW or Mercedez Benz...im taking the Ford course because its almost all electrical diagnostics so that will only make it look better on a resume and when i try to get into an MSAT program...like i said before...school is school..its all how you take it in...i think im dedicated enough and have enough ambition to take as best as i can...fuck i moved two stated from home to try and do this haha it better work! But i completely understand what your saying and hope i make the best of it!

UTI talks so much shit on Wyotech is so funny...i know its cause its there "rival school"....they said they had a student that went to wyotech and didnt feel he learned enough so transfered to UTI and told our basic engines instructor he learned more in three weeks in basic engines then he did in 6 months at wyotech...im not gonna back that cause im not gonna bash a school i havent been to nore back a school i havent completed...its just funny to me ha

Sounds good. I hope you can make the best of it. Good luck to you my friend.

Also, I live in Baytown, about 20 min from your area, we should find some more people on the board and meet at Hooters.

Hmmmm.....I would love to, but I have church on Sunday night, so I usually record the game and watch it that night. Perhaps another time.

Besides that, all of the morons will probably be at Hooters all around the world Sunday. I try to distance myself from morons.
