i used to have one of these:
worked great for a starter amp, and if you don't stay with the guitar, you didn't blow a lot of cash on this amp... as for the guitar, it really comes down to what you like and what guitar you like the best. those guitars are all great (bear in mind that the ones i linked are entry level guitars, so they won't play or sound as great as high-end ones, but it's great for a starter), so it comes down to what you like... oh, and a good cable won't cost you much... my first electric guitar was a Squier Strat and the amp was a Fender Frontman like the one in the link...

depends on how coordinated you are, if you have great rhythm id just learn to play right handed, if not itd probably be easier to learn left handed

my friend is selling me his fender front man for $50 bucks he got a squiere kit and doesnt use it so the amp is new. that leaves me $260
