After being in a position similar to yours, I can understand all of this man. You want a fast car. Your tired of the lame osund of a V6 and want the power and torque of a V8.
Im only 18. I bought my GT 4 months ago. I was driving my dads Monte Carlo SS that had a 3800 Series 3.8L V6 in it and honestly, I had more close calls with the Monte Carlo than I have with the GT amd the Monte is no faster than a V6 Mustang. Now, Im not going to sit here and say Ive never had some fun in the GT because Id be a bold faced liar , but Im telling you from personal experience, wait till your older. 16, in my opinion, is way too young for the power of any V8 sports car. Youre just not experienced enough for the power. Hell, sometimes the car drives me, instead of me driving the car. I still havent gotten very good at that, but Id like to think im alright at it. A V6 is plenty fast enough for you right now. Youd be more tempted to floor it at the sign of any open road in front of you if you had the GT, trust me.You may not even realize it, but even after only 3 years of driving, you become such a better driver. You become more aware of whats actually happening around you and you realize what you can do to a car to make it do certain things. At least thats how it progressed with me. ![]() I found some things out the hard way. No, Ive never been in a wreck, hell Ive never gotten a ticket (cant say gotten pulled over anymore. barked the tires and a cop heard me), but Ive had more close calls than Id like to admit. Wait it out man. Save up and buy a Mach 1 or Termi when youre 18-20ish. Just my opinion. |

Alright man. Seriously the difference in gas and insurance is not that bad. I actually pay about $50 less a month on insurance than I did with the GT. I switched companies and took advantage of the deals they have for drivers under 21 at my old insurance place when I got the gt the price difference was only $10 more a month. Also I get gas about every 7 days. Thats with getting on it and everything, and I drive 30 min to and from work 5 out of 7 days, and I'm driving almost every single if not every single day. Yes, the quality is such a huge difference over the v6 with the GT. Also there is a huge power difference. I went from a 160bhp v6 when it was stock...modded I may have had like 170...i dunno. it wasnt a lot anyways stock numbers. I went from 160 hp to 260 hp. Thats a huge difference, and I love it. Do I get on it in my car? Yea, but I actually drive better and safer with the GT.
I'm happy that I went with a GT, and will never look back. Kinda wanna get rid of the auto(it was cheaper to get the auto than the manual by $5,000) but mom is def saying no.

Nope. I don't like people to pay for my stuff. I like to have responsibility, and pay for my own things. Especially my car stuff.
And she is saying no to the tranny swap because the car wouldnt be numbers matching anymore and I wouldn't be able to get the money out of it than I would if I keep it auto since it has "been worked on"

Screw the idea of a GT.
If you can't get a 4v, get an LS1.

Again as I have told you before. Why don't you let HIM spend HIS money the way HE wants to spend HIS money? If he wants a GT let him get a GT. It's a shit ton better than a v6 is. And before this gets all convuluted. I am in no way saying anything bad about the v6 engine. I had one, and loved it. I have a GT now and love it.

But it wasn't advice on what he asked. So it really was irrelevant and bs advice since he didn't ask about it.

My real opinion differend from his two choices, however it is infact my real opinion. Also it seems like it could be another option for him that he hasn't considered so I was just pointing it out for him. Seems like he wants a fast car, and you can find ls1s for the price of gt's now days.

Still he wasn't asking about an LS1. There is also the possibility he did consider it and didn't want it. Also he mentioned that it is a deal he is being offered to where he can get this GT. So maybe an ls1 or other sports cars are out of the question and that could be possibly why he asked if he should keep the 6 or get the GT.

Im jsut going to through this out there. I dont like the newest body style on the camaro or firebird, so why get something I don't like? In my opinion, Mustangs are some of the sexiest, yes, I used the word sexiest, cars out there, and thats why im sticking with mustang.
And whiteboy, YES! it does, haha. |

I would keep the sixxer... you still in hs man (well me too lol i'm 18 though, a senior). I know when i was 16, i showed off in my 99 dodge dakota 5.2L and that thing was just as powerful if not more than my GT.
Keep the sixxer... keep saving up and get really really good grades. Then ask your parents for a GT for Graduation... and you'll pay the difference in the car and insurance... you'll have enough $$$ by then to pay it off easily and mod a few things.

Get a GT. You seem to get better respect with a V8.
