for my next car im deciding on one of these , a v8 mustang or Nissan 300zx twin turbo. I know alot of you perfer mustangs since you all have them including my self but try to open ur thoughts. The Nissan 300 zx twin turbo has about 320 rear wheel hp and the 2000 v8 mustang has about 265 unless i bought a cobra but thats to expensive and still would only tie the nissans hp

even superchargd 350z's are slow, I saw on a show they did, only got about 330rwhp and that was with nitrous for the intercooler

One of my friends has a 92' 300zx twin turbo. He has almost every aftermarket addition to it except new turbos. When I raced him with my 05' mustang gt, i was ahead of him by about a fender length until 110mph. Then he pulled like no other on me!!! But I think i did pretty good seeing as i only have 4 mods. He has since added a midpipe and has increased his boost. I think he has invested about 20-25 grand into the car. About 10 of that into the engine. His low end power is respectable but that car really shines on the freeway. His top end is around 180mph. I think with a few mods, the mustang will be faster low end, but the 300 will dominate the higher speeds. It all depends on what you want. Do you like having a car that is fast low end, or do you like the faster speeds? its really up to you.

This really depends on the year of the Z. The early 90's 300ZX with twin turbos can easily be made to be 500hp cars. But then again, so too can a V8 mustang.

You said a Cobra might be too expensive... I got mine for under $10K. I have yet to see a TT 300ZX go for that cheap... they are EXTREMELY desirable cars, and many of them are now classics (the 80's Z's, especially the Datsuns). My longtime friend has put a mere $5K into his '84 300ZX (single 85mm turbo) and it dyno's at 545rwhp and can run sub-11's on drag tires. Not too shabby, considering how cheap the older Z's go for.

I love Z's of all shapes and sizes. As far a japanese cars go, I'd say the Z is the equivalent of Japan's "musclecar". Affordable, yet, quick.

That sounds about right. Z's are known for their high-rpm capability, and top-end speed. The old Datsun 280ZXs are absolutely terrific platforms for cheap track capability. Drop a straight-6 into a '79 for about 3 grand, and bam, you've got yourself one of the lightest corner carving cars available.

I'll say it again, big big Z fan here. Still take my 4valve over any Z though. Can't beat the torque of an american muscle car.

the TT 300zx is nice, but it is a bit of a pig, i would personally rather have a 240sx with a silvia drop (sr20det) you can get them for the same price and the are a easier modding platform

I like the tt z's but it seems like you ALWAYS here about the bad problems with elec...and the new z's are cool n all but i think they sound sooo gay...dont know what it is about the sound just dont like it.

Ooo if you want an early 90s car like the TT z's i would rather have an 3000gt vr4, dont know much about them excpet that i have always liked them.

yea its a toss up between nissan 300zx and mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 or mustang v8???
and nissan 300zx stock and vr4 stock are faster then most mustangs sorry guys

the twin turbo 300zx comes with 300hp, and thats to the crank. Also yes, they are nice, but there is more out there for the Mustang. I say go for the Mustang. I was in the same predicament and chose the Mustang over it.

what you think bout mitsibushi 3000 gt vr4 with 330 hp all wheel drive , the only thing is the got lot of problems that seem to occur over time with them, and yea 300zx is a pretty amazing car and looks very good and is very fast ,would beat most stangs on long rung and vr4 would beat most off start and long run but both have there share of problems.

vr4 is a bitch to work on, and also with it being a car that not as many people have parts can be harder to find. They are all great cars, but when it comes down to it, I will choose a Mustang over all of them.

The sound, the power they can make, the torque, everything that makes a Mustang a Mustang appeals to me more than other cars. I will be perfectly honest, and say that I enjoy driving my GT more than my moms vette. Not because the GT is mine and the vette isn't, but because a GT is more fun to drive. May not be as fast, but I don't need to go fast.

i have always like 350z's, but i have always loved mustangs.....hard pick....choose wisely and dont regret your decision
