Turbos

ok, i drove a buddy of mines joe gibbs chevy truck yesterday. i has the compltetly stock 4.8 sb in it. he strapped a 61 mm turb on it last week and on the other wise stock motor it ut down 527 rwhp and a shit ton of torque. it got me thinking about turbos. i loved the sound and that thing ulled so hard. so ive been doing my research into two kits.

#1. the hellion power systems turbo.
t-67 or t-76
k-member and coil over suspension
$6602

#2. the hp twin turbo route
57mm twin turbos
60# injectors
k-member and coil over front suspension
$6900

bth have a couple of options that i deleted. i am wondering what which would be better for me. i am only into drag racing. the car is a track whore, and occasionally driven on the streets. i know i would have a hard time making more than 600 hp with the novi becuase of belt slippage issues. i think i could make well over 700 rwhp with the turbo systems. so which would be better for my application. ive decided against going with the blower and will now be saving up for a turbo system. i am allreayd so deep into the car, its not gnna hurt to put more cash into it. so let me know what yall think

i'd say #2..the twin set up!
idk both are good options. im sayin TT, not to many ppl have it, so it make your car more rare and different.
although there is a 98 or 97 GT that has just 1 huge turbo, they got a video of it i think called underpresure 2. that is the sickest stang ive ever seen. i like that over the 7second stang. i'll try to find the video

i'd say this is gunna be one sick GT with either option!

no, but from some turbo'd stangs around here, I've seen that a single turbo puts a big strain on a modular motor

No doubt go with the twins. There isn't any kind of strain difference - it makes sense. You get the fast spooling and low RPM power of a small turbo and the high hp of a big turbo.

personally I have only used single turbo (on my gn) and am thinking about turbo'ing the stang when I get it I am leaning towards single big turbo I actually enjoy a bit of turbo lag and then lighting up from a 40mph roll in an automatic with a v6 lol......

anyway go for the hellion

i think it is worth it, faster spooling less drag bearings should last longer.....

depending on your year i know sts makes a twin that is rear mounted and would save you engine space. plus the piping acts as a intercooler from the rear giving you almost 100% effeciencey with a traditional intercooler.

and there quality is pretty shitty. its a great design but there fav work is cehapely done. im still deciding what to do. im gonna urn the novi for a while becasue this trubo shit is a lot more expensive then just what you see in the kit. there always little things that come up. general rule of thumb is for the price of the turbo kit, double it and thats about what it will cost to cpmplete and be runnung

I would say go for the twin setup...

for I think for around 8k you could have a twin turbo set-up installed and tuned...

The bad thing is that you have already put blower cams in the car right? that would be money lost I think...

If I have my choice my car would have the twin turbo set-up on it as well...My friend Ryan has the TT Set-up on his cobra up here and that damn car is so f*cking fast...On stock internals no less...The motor is done now but it is being built...

You will be good either way you go...But turbo's are the way of the future...IMHO

You could get it done for 10K I think...But the kit from MPH and get a base tune from Tim and then find a tuner in your area to tweak it...

Either way I think you will be happy...
