V6 TT mustang for 2012

In one of the car magazine i was reading(Maybe Motortrend). it says that for the MPG rating needed by car companys for 2012... that ford wont be able to keep the mustang with a V8... because you can make the same power from a tt V6 for less gas...

i was just wondering if yall thought ford will drop the V8... i hope not... i feel they will find a way around it maybe by cutting some cylinder...

what do u think?

they wont drop the v8 but a tt v6 will probably be a middle ground and a new model for the gas minded speed demon

hahaha lmao!

Well actually gents, its gonna be a TT v6 Diesel. and it is infact 90% going to happen... not dropping the v8 part (thats where gas guzzler tax comes in play, going up to around 4k by 2012), but the tt v6 diesel part. I'll be looking into that! but they'll be selling like hot cakes.

Its sad tho, that we cant all just go the E85 route... its cheaper and provides a constant 105 octane. We need more cars running e85 and more stations providing it!!! then it wouldnt be so much of a problem.

my dad and i were just talking about this. Back in what the late 80's oil prices went from like $9 to $45 and they made the car companies increase gas millage. And look at today,

Your talking about the age that killed the muscle car, sir.

Mustangs were the only one to survive it.

It's true that electric cars were silenced a while ago by oil/big auto companies...but the public knew nothing about it back then. Nowadays every other word out of advertisers' mouths is "green" or "hybrid" and I think the public knows enough that electric cars have a much better chance.

electric cars are just as bad. how do you think those batteries are produced? by magic? and those cells during production are shipped by a huge fuel drinking ships 2 times across the ocean before they even end up in a car.

HYDROGEN is the perfect fuel hands down. electrics cars e85 and all that junk still pollute and cause problems. hydrogen fixes everything

hmmmm, i believe i know exactly what i'm talking, so ur the idiot.
E-85 will sustain a mininum of 105 octane and a max of 109 (somethines it regulates). Its very stable, more stable that gasoline and can support much higher compression and more hp. but any "idiot" could tell you that.

E85, if it was accepted, would get rid of all 90% of all the emission problems caused by automobiles. Its extremely cheap to produce and even though it will take more fuel to burn equally with gasoline, in the long run, its much cheaper... on average $350 a year cheaper.

I know all this because my mothers an enviromental lawyer and works hard on this issue, trying to get more stations here in indianapolis. I've already converted my dodge dakota to e-85 and it runs much smoother and doenst produce any foul gas or emission odor at all. A kit for a mustang is around $300 or so dollars, and well worth it if you know/learn about it.

So dont call me an idiot pal, cuz i know way more about this than you do... because you calling me out with an ignorant statement proves right there that you dont know jack about e85 and its efficiency.

Have a good day

  • The first is price: ethanol can be more expensive than gasoline, depending on where you live. Data on fuel prices from the DOE shows that in the Midwest (where much of the country’s ethanol is produced) E85 sells for nearly 30 cents less per gallon than conventional gasoline. However, on the West Coast, filling up with ethanol would cost a driver 35 cents more per gallon. In the mid-Atlantic states, E85 had an even higher premium: 44 cents per gallon.
  • The higher price of E85 in many areas is made worse by ethanol’s second drawback: ethanol, regardless of the price you pay for it, contains less energy than gasoline. This means that your car won’t go as far on a gallon of E85, and your fuel economy will decrease by 20-30 percent. This is bad news for consumers because even if the price of E85 at the pump is cheaper than gasoline, using ethanol may not be less expensive in the end.
Let’s consider one example. The most fuel-efficient flexible-fuel vehicle available this year is the Chevrolet Impala. Using gasoline, it is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. By using E85, rated mileage drops to 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.
If you fill-up the Impala’s 17-gallon tank at a station in the Midwest, you’ll save $5.10 by using E85. So far, so good. However, you can’t drive as far on E85 and will have to refuel sooner than if you had purchased conventional gasoline. In fact, your cost per mile is higher using E85: 9.7 cents/mile vs. 8.4 cents/mile for regular gas.
A 1.3 cent per mile difference may not seem like much, but over the course of a year’s driving it adds almost $200 to your fuel costs.
  • Another other issue is that E85 is widely available only in the Midwest. The DOE lists more than 600 E85 stations in the United States, but nearly half of those are in two states: Minnesota and Illinois. Other areas, even populous ones, have little E85 infrastructure. For example, New York, California, Texas and Florida have just 15 E85 stations combined, only two of which allow sales to the general public.

Lets see sir.... i LIVE IN THE MIDWEST!

All you need to get the same energy as gas is bigger # injectors ... and around the whole midwest, it comes cheaply (corn my friend), and you do save a lot of precious money.
