just don't use a lot of pressure is all.
basically almost let it control itself.. nudge it in the direction you want it to go. you'll understand when you turn it on.

That Porter Cable is probably a little more "professional" than mine. I bought a random orbital buffer/waxer last year. I love using it and think it would be hard to burn the paint with it because of the way it spins. The one you have is like a professional deal from the way it sounds. Now those I'd be afraid to use. I will say my $100 buffer works really good compared to hand buffing. It makes it alot easier. I can get the whole car finished in less than an hour and it looks show room.

Thats just like the one I use. Chris, its random orbital. You would have to TRY and burn the paint. Keep the RPMs down until you get used to it. Always start the polisher with the pad against the car so you dont hit the paint to fast. The best advise I could give is to make sure you use a good wax and also make sure it dries real good before you put the buffer on it. I used to get anxious and start to take it off before it hazed. It would just smear it around and make it more work for me. I always do mine in the garage when the temperature and humidy are right. Low humidity and a temperature above 70 degrees. When its too cold or hot, it fucks with the wax. I use a Turtle wax liquid and it comes with bonnets made just for it. Also, dont try to wash bonnets. Just throw them out when you use it once... they dont cost much. You 'll still have to hand wax around some of the corners. Dude, you cant screw it up. If my sorry ass can do it, you can. I can get my paint looking like showroom and have never had a burn or swirl or anything. |

One of the coolest things Ive done is "layers". It takes the better part of the day but the results are worth it.
I had half bottles of 3 differetn waxes in the garage. I figured screw it, I'll layer them all on and see how it looks. It looked so freakin deep. I got more compliments than ever. I actually used a "color match" blue on the middle layer. It was slightly darker than my sonic blue. It created a "depth" that was simply unreal. You will have fun with it. You'll get good at the layers. I could get my hood to look like glass. Make sure to post up some pics. |

Buffers are a pain in the ass I had to use them at work to wet sand and buff cars
Everyone develops their own style but to get you started dont hold it hard against the panel dont hold it completly flat keep it slightly tilted on its top edge thats what I do And you just practice and you will get it
