hey if you are for or against god it makes no difference to me.. i can respect either. i just say look at both sides of it before you make a decision.. im neutral in it.

like i said before i have 4 crosses tattoed on me and on has a scroll under it that said Protect Me God and i wear them all proudly. im not a christian anymore but i was raised one and it instilled a lot of good morals in me. i disagree with some of it and agree with some.

and the blower is mine

btw doc: you got the 1000th post in this thread

Wikipedia is sometimes a good source but I wouldn't say they are completely neutral, because the information is user-contributed.

this is true, but when having articles both biblical and historically related, you have to cite sources for both. that kinda balances it all out

Coastie, I have to disagree with you there. Sources that start out as neutral often get lambasted by the defensive religious crowd. Even to simply say, "prove it" puts you at odds with those of faith, even though in every other arena of academia, "prove it" would be expected. So you can't easily be agnostic and friendly with the religious unless the religous crowd you are around has a large number of "Casual" worshippers (anal sex with a hooker on wednesday, confession and repentence on sunday) to pressure the hardcore ones. But that hardcore one will never truly accept you. Those that believe in god think the rest of us are ignorant cattle, doomed to burn for the sins of mankind. Even if we lead spotless lives, those that follow Christ already know that we are going to burn in the end regardless. And that is one of the problems, the bible tells you not to question god for the moment you do, you become one of them. Until the followers of Jesus are given permission to ask questions, this thread will be typical discourse.

i disagree with you on that one. i know quite a few christians that completely accept me. one is a priest (no he doesnt mess around with kids) 2 are ministers, and others are non-denominational christians. they are just smart enough to realize that i am capable of making my own intelligent decisions and support me on what decision i make.

Those that believe in God do not think other non-believers are ignorant cattle, they try to reach out to them.

No one has lived a spotless life. Have you ever sinned or done something your were not suppose to?

Coastie, if your religion said that anyone who didn't agree would burn in hell, how could you not look upon them as grossly ignorant for choosing option B. They may be polite to you, and they probably genuinely like you, but when the conversation ends and they walk away they are saying, "What a shame, Coastie is such a nice guy, and he's going to burn in hell. How can I help him?"

By your plot before all available land is lost to urban sprawl.

Talk to a priest, post a question on craigs list, contact a social worker that supports a retirement home.

Are you afraid of death, or the transition?

I like to thing of it like I die every night for 8 hours.

And that when I do finally kick the bucket, it will be just like going to sleep.

Here's a book I read shortly after my grandfather passed away, I was interested in what happensof course, from the situation, and I happened to find this book at his house when I was there during his last days. It's a study of what people experience when they have a near-death experience, or have died, and been revived. Pretty interesting stuff, and a lot of the cases were very similar. I would suggest picking it up, or a book like it, I'm sure there are many studies on this subject.

the book is called "Life After Life" by Dr. Raymond A. Moody, Jr.

im not afraid of what is after death. so far i have lived a good life and have been a good person. if there is a God im sure he/she will see the good i have done. just because i dont believe i shouldnt be condemned to hell, if there is one.

That is a scary out look, i sure hope its not tru. Im dont really believe in religion, but i figure if I live a good life, which i do for the most part when the time comes Ill be good.

What I dont like about religion first of is that there are so many so which is right. Some people say at least u believe in somethin, so maybe thats tru, but if you just a good person whats the difference? Second the church used to be used to scare people into doin the right thing and was a pretty powerful political force. Btw im refering to the catholic church which i was brought up in. The church is very strict and selective, look at its views on gays, when the "father" is this all forgiving being.

But "that" God requires your forgiveness, not just considering your a good person, everyone considers themselves a good person.

The reason people go to hell is: they refuse to believe in God and refuse to forgive their sins and wrong doings to God.
