You'll notice that at the end of the quote I wrote "Queensryche".

Does the source detract from the message???

That would be an affirmative.

Could that be part of the problem? You don't analyze the words but rather the source. Like everything else about your religion. So long as it's from the bible you'll swallow any nonsense, but let an intelligent phrase come from a souce you don't respect and suddenly the words mean nothing.

Usually you take info from a valuable source. The Bible is one, and there are numerous sources of info out there that follow the same ideas and information which make the same connections the Bible does.

When you are having a debate about the greatest, most intelligent book and most known/sold book ever written. (Believers and non-believers can agree) And then all the sudden someone quotes Queensryche..... thats just not suppose to happen.

To sum it up, it's like holding a 5lb block of gold with a 5lb turd and trying to compare the two.

The reason that you refuse to believe there is a God is because you don't want to believe anyone has authority over you. It becomes obvious how you treat people on this forum.

You get in an argument you can't win and all the sudden there's name calling a B/S'ing.

<-- knows people have authority over me.. i signed a contract and have higher ranks over me

i wouldnt say the Bible is the most intelligent book written. a lot of it is written worse than the goosebumps books for kids. most of the stories are completely unbelieveable. i has a good message for the most part i have to say though.

There's a reason why those books are sometimes unbelievable to the human mind.

because they are parables... story about something that has a meaning.

most parables are far-fetched and end up having a good meaning.

I see, so the same words, uttered from a famous person will have more meaning then if say, I muttered them?

And about the argument that I can't win. Do you even know what my standpoint is?

Am I against god?
Am I against science?
Am I a scientologist?
Am I not satisfied that there's any reason to believe in god or that the story of a man name Jesus is more poorly documented than a natural disaster from around that same time period?

Also,
I know you're going to assert that I'm anti god despite what I claim, but think about it. If I stated my position first, and you responded with something I consider illogical I have to tell you. That immediately puts us across the table from each other. Since you're side is god, then anyone who comes in several posts later will see me as anti god as I simply play devils advocate to your assertions. Then it goes on, assertions are made by both sides, back and forth until some idiot loses track of the original debate and says something like, "you're never going to convince each other so just let the thread die." Now the atmosphere of the thread has evolved from polite ramblings from many viewpoints to opposing viewpoints attempting to dominate the arguement.

So, in case your still unsure, I'm open to proof there is god. But not proof handed to me by anyone born on this planet unless it's backed by either math, repeatability, or I've seen it with my own eyes. I'm not trying to win an arguement.

I do however enjoy this thread because there's so much ignorant crap in here it makes me laugh. Like the way I laugh at the perceptions held by farmers from third world countries. Everyone, friend and faux foe, give your selfs a big Richard Simmons hug.

Please tell me you know he didn't look like this. He was born in North Africa. He would've been the whitest featured guy in a 5,000 mile radius.

^lol

sorry for bringin up old shit but i found this searching for other stuff and i gotta comment

u think the world will end 12/21/2012?

maybe it won't end, just change drastically? remember, there's a battle between good and evil happening right here and now..

if evil wins, i think the world will be in a state of chaos for a while then there might be some divine intervention or some shit.. u kno, like the Return

but if good wins, there might just be peace for 1000 years that we were promised.. who knows

its up to you in the end, ignore it and evil will win, or do good and enjoy your life
