Any uh...Tea Drinkers?

At work I always carry "supermarket" tea at my desk, to drink in the morning.

I'm talking your normal, everyday, green tea in tea bags kind of deal. I have a new boss at work, and he noticed I am a tea drinker and we talked for a bit about how I drink anything from Green to Jasmine, White, etc. Anyway, he tells me he prefers the loose leaf tea, and says he'll bring me some to try.

So he proceed to bring me my own package of fresh tea with a bunch of chinese/japanese writing on it. I can't read any of it. Being the kind of person I am, eager to try this new tea, I proceed to dump a lot of leaves in my cup. If I could read the chinese writing, it would probably tell me I am about to overdose on tea.

About, 30 minutes later, sitting in a meeting, still drinking my extremely strong/bitter tea, I start feeling high. Literally. I just got high at work. On green tea.

Apparently, it is possible with good tea leaves, and it's a "healthy" high. I am sitting here typing this, shopping for freshly imported green tea, and I'm on my 3rd cup. LOL.

Anyone else experience this and/or familiar with shopping for actual fresh/high quality tea? After trying this tea, I don't think I can go back to the typical supermarket tea.

And just for clarification, I am literally talking about tea here. (Not trying to imply mj or something else.)

That's slightly a different kind of tea lol but also another one of my addictions.

This is what my boss gave me:

It's hard to read the package because of how bright/shiny/wrinkled it is. I can make out the words Thái Nguyên. Based off google it appears to be a green tea from a region in Vietnam.

I've found a couple websites to order fresh green tea, but they use words foreign to me, I didn't realize how many varieties and types there are. So I need to do some research first. Some of them are VERY expensive too.

Of course, I could ask my new boss where to buy the good stuff. But that would be too easy. And he would probably send me to some asian supermarkets where they don't speak english. lol

Those tea leaves in my hand swell up the minute you put them in water, too. I thought I didn't put much tea leaves in my cup, and the next thing I know, half my cup is filled with leaves. Super strong stuff.

Only had green tea from lipton 20oz not even that good. Love hot or iced black tea. I need something other than coffee after dinner. I can fall asleep fine but can never stay asleep.

Have you tried sleepytime tea? After 6 or 7 cups of that stuff I can barely wake up in the morning, I'm not a great sleeper either.

Ok, I got good news and bad news. Good news it my boss informed me that he's from the region and knows the different teas. He only buys this brand.

Bad news...he imports this tea in bulk from a family supplier. This tea is so pure, which is probably why I got a "tea high" from this stuff.

He told me that he knows how many businesses process tea out there and to not order anything from the region unless it is from a highly reputable supplier (basically none.) Most of the tea companies are family owned businesses and they spray chemicals and stuff on a lot of the teas to add artificial flavoring and skip out on doing things properly.

This sucks lol. Basically I need to fly to Vietnam, and bring back a crate of this stuff.

My other co-worker is also from Vietnam and told me he doesn't even buy tea from the region because he is afraid of the product. He orders Japanese green tea, but it is a bit more mild.

Hopefully there's someone out there who can point me in the direction of ordering tea of similar qualities. I will find a good supplier, dammit.

The way I make my sweet tea though, it comes out to be about half the sugar content of coca-cola.

Also, if you ever serve me lemon in my sweet tea, I will rip out your spine and beat you with it. I hate when I go out to eat somewhere, order a sweet tea, and it tastes like the lemon god took a shit in it. Fucking nasty as fuck, how do people drink that shit? If I wanted lemon, I'd just ordered lemonade. Keep lemons out of my tea.

I don't think I've ever had sweet tea with lemon before..???

There is a really fantastic tea at a local Thai restaurant I like to eat at. They add a hint of lemon but its not overpowering and its not a sweet tea either. I've been trying to figure out their recipe, because it is really delicious.
