its so weird seeing plug wires and a distributor

looking forward to seeing the rest of this and the final numbers

just out of curiousity.... does doing a PI swap change the compression ratio a lot? and what kind of numbers are you planning on putting down?

im expecting about 300+/- 10 HP and monster TQ

Reason being is that the Comp 270 isn't as aggressive as i wanted, but i would have had to get fly cuts to get that done.

ANd it raises the Compression to 10.4:1 or so with a stock head. But mine are ported so, it should be around 10.2:1-10.3:1

Thanks for the help. My PI motor had one with the holes in it as well. Oh, and I won't be doing shorties because it's not in my budget. So far, I've spent
$300 - PI intake (d'oh)
-$100 sold npi intake
$100 - entire PI motor
-$100 sold pi intake
-$60 used IAC off new motor when mine took a dump... prolly saved me some money
$170 - gaskets/head swap kit
$0 - carb cleaner and scotchbrite pads
---------------------------------
$310 for entire swap

how much are shorties? $300? for 5hp? no thanks

Ujslost ur the one saying I had to pull the damn thing. WHen all i had to do was drain the fluid and take the fitting off! LOL
I think the distruber is the coil pack bank instead of the COPs that shocker is talking about.

You dont have to get flycut pistons for 270's. Im running stock pistons and as long as you degree them to the correct position you'll be fine, but whatever....... where'd you get your cams ground Matt?? and How much?

yeah the comp 270 will not need flycuts if degreed. Thats what im giong with. The cams i wanted were going to require flycuts. The cam i wanted was more agressive than the Comp 270.

Comp ground my cams with out the 5º advance though.

yeah degreeing the cams seem to be pretty easy! Boomer has helped me a lot though this process as has Ujslost. Thanks guys!

But I paid 675 shipped to my door for the cams.

Word thats not too bad. What else are you going to be doing? I figured while everythings out I might as well replace the oil pump, waterpump, timing guides, chains, injectors, and all new cam gears, spacers, bolts, and what not. Oh yea I found out that all of comp cams take the 12MM bolt for the sprocket. Comp never told me that, so i found out the hard way gettin ready to install everything.

Did you get your wiring harness out the way??

naw i have nothing to do on the car but clean up the engine bay for the day... My heads will be here tommorow hopefully.

I went with a Ported and Polished head, Hooker longtubes and these comp 270s. This thing should scream on the bottle.

But im leaving everything else the way it was other than the bolts. I have ARP head studs going on. My comp cams came with gear bolts too. wierd.

Next few weeks i should be getting 30 LB injectors and 255lph fuel pump. Water pump has less than 5000 miles on it, and the oil pump seems to work just fine.

I got the rear drag springs in. But they were very very hard to do. I cant wait for the heads to show back up... In the mean while im going to start cleaning the timing cover and the valve covers.

DO WORK SON. Looks like its comming along just fine. Dont rush, take time to fire one off everynight as well. Trust me it helps.

Oh yeah...if you think the rear springs are very very hard to do...good luck with the fronts.

So....question probably some others are wondering...how much for everything? Because i picked up heads, cam, intake, s/c and intercooler for 2300. Sell that junk 4.6 and pick up a nice 5.0. Just kidding. Good thing youre still running high compression, with the nitrous shot you have you'll be more than happy with the entire setup.

Good job man...You've come quiet far with this car.

thanks man. I plan on blowing up the bottom end this summer. Not intensionally. Aswell as ruining my axles. Next on the list is 31 spline locker, and axles. And then a 12.5:1 compression forged aluminum short block! i say that should make decent power on a direct port 200 shot.

I would say I have about 2000-2500 in the swap. Been saving a while, and also been buying lots of stuff used...
