Any PS2 users
I have a PS2 I bought a few years back, I'm having a problem playing blue CD games. Thats what the software guy told me when I called, he said some PS2's had a problem with a CD game if they were blue. It will play the DVD games all day long and CD games as long as they aren't blue on the game side. Anyone ever hear of this or have a similar problem? It's not under warranty any more but can it be fixed or should I just get a new system?
Thanks Jeff |

The blue disks were a bad design decision from the get go. This was a cheaper formatting choice.
The problem is, the blue label disks need to spin faster than the standard dvd (or silver) disks. Thus (on older PS2's) not being able to run some disks with too much information. This can be solved simply by cleaning the eye that reads your disk, or in some cases you may need to "calibrate" the eye as well. But only if you have a very old PS2. How old is your PS2 by the way? |

I can't imagine what would posess them to rid themselves of the hard drive they so insisted on for the longest time, too. Also the pop up top, please... Still it's a tad sexier than the old PS2!!! |

The system is 4 or so years old. I tried cleaning the lens last night with a CD cleaner but that didn't help matters any. It doesn't sound right when I try to play the game, Tetris Worlds, the THG. Either I don't play that game or I buy a new system I guess. Such is life. Thanks for the info guys.

Sounds like your lens needs calibrated. It is a very long and grueling process. I am not sure if you want to spend 3 hours on it or not. PM me if you want anymore information.

Sony won't fix it, but they'll sell me a refurbished one for $75. At that price I might as well buy a new one and just not play the blue cd's on the one I have.
