anyone had to get a replacement key for their car?
so i got in my car today after buying me some good ole german import beer and turn the key and it fires and dies i look at the cluster and the fucking theft light is flashing. im thinking what the hell tried couple more times everytime light flash car no run. thankfully i had the wife with the other key and used it fired right up. im guessing this means the coded key i use is fucked caqusing the anti theft to activate. question is how much does it cost to get a replacemtn key from ford made.

Can you post how much your dealer charges when you find out. Id like to see if its close to what mine told me. They said it was $105.99. WTF? Where do they come up with this shit?

I had one made at Wal-Mart Friday. Not all Wal-Marts do it, but this one did and it was $65. Not too bad, but the key is hideous. I'll get a picture for you.

My suggestion, buy one off of ebay, take it to Wal-Mart and have it cut and programmed. Here's a link.

since you already have a working key, you should be able to program it yourself. Ford dealership charged me $40 for a new key, but i think they gave it to me closer to cost cause they didnt tell me i needed a second key to program the new pcm. Here try this...
Program a new Ford PATS Key |

i had my keys replaced when i bought the car.......
they charged me 50 dollars to copy the code and 50 dollars per key after that. My adivce is to get 2 or more keys made at the same time, because if u come back a year later and have a key made it'll cost u another 50 to copy the code on the key again........ |
