Woo... Another PI Swap In Progress

Time for me to join Matt in the world of torn-apart mustangs. You guys get to see two engines torn apart at one time... both by kids in high school. Now isn't that special.

Sooo tonight I started disassembly. Don't have the right size allen wrench (and the petcock is partly stripped as well) to drain the coolant from the radiator, so I siphoned most of it out the top

Then off came the intake tube/tb/plenum with relative ease (I hate that EGR crap)

And on I went until I finally had the coil packs/wires off, power steering reservoir (PITA to get those hoses off the bottom) and ultimately the intake. Not bad for a couple hours work by myself.

I guess tomorrow I'll aim to get the front cover off and everything set to pull the heads. I hate wires >.>

Stock cams, stock heads. Just wouldn't feel right spending more on cams than the entire swap, or on porting. Here's what I have in the swap so far...

$300 - PI intake (d'oh)
-$100 sold npi intake
$100 - entire PI motor
-$100 sold pi intake
-$60 used IAC off new motor when mine took a dump... prolly saved me some money
$170 - gaskets/head swap kit
$0 - carb cleaner and scotchbrite pads
---------------------------------
$310 for entire swap

And I have a complete PI short block to sell as well as the wiring harness, stock tb/plenum, my npi heads/cams etc. if I can find a buyer. It won't be the beast Matt's car is going to be, but that's alright. If I wanted something like that I'd buy an LS1 I'll have to get you guys a picture of the awesome equipment I'm using... $20 champion tool set (+ a borrowed wrench, impact gun and channel lock pliars) haha.

Gyarr... I can't get the darn power steering pump off. I can't get the "high pressure fitting" (the one you have to unscrew to get off) off... there's not room to stick a wrench up there. Any ideas?

Yeah, I took pilers. and then was able to use a wrench. It took like 20 minutes.

Just disconnect the reservoir from the bracket then use a bunjee cord to pull it forward outta the way

I'll try it with some needle nose pliars... already tried channel locks and that wasn't working And I need to get the pump off because it's attached to the front cover, which I also need to pull off. I'd leave it on the front cover but I can't get the line off. I'd leave the pump in the car but I can't get to that last bolt because the line is on there. I hate Ford.
