Twin-turbo V6 Mustang for 2010?
If you look around, the signs are definitely pointing to Ford dropping the V8 for the next-gen Mustang. Mustang Enthusiast magazine talks about it, too this month.
Personally, I'm horrified. I can't imagine it, but the way things are with oil, it makes sense. Times change. And I'm sure Ford is going to do whatever they want regardless of what Mustang enthusiasts think. I'm just glad I got my V8 while they're still around... What do you guys think? Do you think it's blasphemy or just the next logical step?

I think its hooey. They may scale back V8 production to meet CAFE requirements, and maybe charge more for the V8. But the demand will always be there for a V8 and the performance it brings. And with the introduction of the Camaro and Challenger to the market, Ford will finally NEED the V8 option just to keep market share.

o god please no the only way they could get rid of a v8 is if they put a v10 in haha cause ford will go under if they dont have performance mustangs and why dont they put a turbo v6 and a twin v8 that would be great

There will never be a Mustang without a V8 option. They may make a turbo six or even four, but Ford knows that the Mustang is a massive gravy train. They make a killing off of the Mustang. If the V8 disappears so does its legacy, heritage, and most importantly, 50%+ of its buyers.

True, but how many of those sales are made because of the image that the V8 car has? How many people want a V8 Mustang, but buy a V6 for gas/insurance/cost reasons? They may not sell as many V8 cars, but without 'em, they lose a lot of V6 sales.

There's only one thing I've heard about the new Camaro that I don't like, and I'm not sure how true it is: it comes stock with 20s, and the wheel arches are designed to look best with 22s.
And I would expect Ford to totally bastardize the Mustang before they dropped it, it's really the only car they have that attracts buyers from other brands. What I would hope would happen is that if they choose to make the GT a twin-turbo V6, that they retain the V8 for the Cobra, but stop pulling punches with it. Use a boosted version of the largest V8 they have, and damn the cost. It's expected that a Vette should take a Mustang in the twisties, but give it the power to shut 'em down in the straights.

Actually the Camaro was said to come stock with 20's out front, and 22's in the back. And I say good luck to the guy paying for tires and rims.

personally i think big wheels look really mexican (thats what the mexicans do around here, put mega huge, ugly, heavy wheels on some pos and then think they are "gansta," spend more on the wheels then they did for the car) unless its on a lifted pickup. no offense to anyone here thats of mexican heritage

I don't think the new Camaro looks bad like that, but the cost of wheels & tires will be outragous.

Yeah, I *HATE* big wheels. For current wheel and tire technology, 17s are the best for performance. 18s can give a little bit better handling, but that extra weight screws with your braking and acceleration.
I had a girl come into Kragen one time and complain that she had lost a bunch of fuel economy on her civic (like, 35->25mpg or something ludicrous like that). She never did put it together than it happened because she went from the factory 15s to 19s.
